Mr. Clean Magic Eraser... or a new safety razor blade (the kind you would y=use to scrape paint from windows) held at a 45 degree angle and the Cerama-brite cream. Scrape firmly with cleaning cream in small 2" circles. One of those methods should take it off

Hi,

If aluminum foil is stuck to the element, you might try turning oven temperature to highest setting for a while to see if the heat will cause the remaining foil to burn off the element. If it is a self-cleaning oven, perhaps the extreme heat will incinerate the foil during the cleaning operation. Another option might be to heat oven at low heat, wear heat proof mitt, and try to gently scrape away aluminum foil. If in doubt, contact your manufacturer and/or repair person.

It is always best to refer to owner's manual for operation, maintenance, and cleaning instructions.

quote.gif --> You might try using a rasor blade. Just be sure to keep the blade flat against the glass surface and scrape gently.

Is there anything else i can help you with??

I was roasting a chicken in my Maytag Cooktop when I heard a loud buzzing and a "pop", all of the power in my house went out. Something had tripped the breaker. My husband reset the breaker but my stove...

there is a short for sure, sometimes when the heating element burns out and melts, it touches the metal inside the housing causing a short. inspect the heating elements in the oven(top and bottom). the loud buzzing sound is what a shorting out heating element makes as it melts like a weldin rod, usually because of using tin foil(not recommended)

When you dont replace the ceramic top that ios cracked could cause issues in your circuit board. The best thing t do is buy a new stove. The parts nad labor along is going to cost you about the same price as a new one.

Burned Copper Bottom Pot on Glass Stove Top. This left a ''melted'' portion of the pot on the glass. Any ideas on how to remove the melted residue?

sorry to say no , if you try to peal it off or scrape ot off you will crack the cooktop . this keeps happening i have seen it at around 4 times for some reason revere ware melts . there should be a warning in the manual ( i know ge does have the warning about copper bottoms ) . replaceing the cooktop or the whole stove is the only "true" answer .... sorry .....Please if this answer helped , please rate this 3 or 4 stars . and keep me in the paid answer department . A 1 or 2 may knock me down into the unpaid ranks. Thanks Cactus Bob

My electric stove top burner only works on high

This is for the glass top units. well i'm not sure if your problem is with your large or small single burner or the large expandable burner. If it's the large or small single burner replace the burner and if it the expandable also replace the burner. If you have a coil burner replace the infinite switch. Good luck hope this helps you.

Electric shock

Hello butterfly777,
Remove all traces of foil ( with power off) and make sure the coil is fully seated into the electrical terminal block.. these are typically just pushed in to seat them.. Run the heater up to full power and let it stay there for 10-15 minutes.. if you don't see any problems with it... in all probability its ok.. and can be run that way..
I am speculating on what may have happend... perhaps a piece of foil flashed on you and sparked a little.. foil is electrically conductive but the coil element itself is grounded externally so if it doesn't spark after it is run up during your test.. it should be ok.. If you are uncompfortable or feel it poses a threat..get a replacement heating element...
Hope that helps..
Regards,
Rick

Melted plastic help!!!!!!!

While the cook top is cool, use a razor blade scraper to remove most of the melted plastic.  Turn on the cook top to warm the remaining plastic slightly, turn off the cooktop,  and then wipe off the excess.

Whirlpool Oven, Ceran stove top

I want to say that since I posted my original problem with black spots appearing on the Schott Ceran top, I took pictures of the top and attached them to a complaint sent to Maytag. Approximately 3 days later, a Maytag representative phoned and offered a brand new top-basically stating that there is a fault with the tops. They would not pay for the labor to replace the top. My husband downloaded the instructions from Maytag website and installed it himself. These spots actually appear from within the surface and are not the result of a boil over, etc. The spots on my burner grew to the width of the burner. If you search the internet, you will see many others with the same problem with the Schott Ceran tops. I will never buy another!
