Acer Aspire 9300 - Broken DC Charging Jack Socket

Managed to take it all apart and reveal the keyboard. How do I get the keyboard off to get to the DC power socket? On gently lifting the keyboard, the connecting cables are so short I cannot reach the plugs to release the keyboard and may not be able to get the connectors back in afterwards. Thanks & Regards, Ron

You will need to disconnect these. Then you will locate the five metal tabs along the back, which need to be pressed in, which releases the top part of the keyboard and it will now come out. Then re assemble connectors through the access holes you will now see very tricky job more plug connectors inside to so go carefull make sure you disconnect these correctly as you may pull the wires out

Instrutions how to replace charging port aspire 6935g

Replacing a DC Power jack in any computer is no easy task. However, it can be done by any novice. First, get on ebay and see what jack you need. Search for you jack by entering Acer Aspire 6935g jack. Most of the new ones have the cable attached to the jack instead of the old fashion solder.

Next, Google this question and check out the YouTube videos regarding Acer DC Jack replacement. It will give you an idea as to what you need to do. You may want to take a video camera and record what steps you take when you take it apart so you can review how to put it back together. Also, get a sewing box or something so you can put the screws in a separate container for the order you removed them; ie: bottom screws; hard drive screws, DVD mount screw... etc..

You always have to start with the bottom and work your way to the top. You will have to remove the palm rest, keyboard, heat shields and any other piece of hardware to get to it.

Acer Aspire 5315 charging circut fuse

So you have removed the battery from this laptop for at least 30secs - 1minute? Not really sure about a laptop fuse? Test your DC jack for continuity - with a volt meter - outside prong and inside stem. Those will be the first few steps to finding your issue.

Acer aspire one charging port loose

If I recall this model line uses a fixed DC power jack directly soldered to the main board. When they become loose, you can visually inspect the jack itself (without the cord plugged in), and use a pen or probe to see of the center peg is excessively loose. The common result is the solder connections have been broken between the DC jack and the main board. Often the jack itself needs to be replaced (involving complete disassemble, de-soldering old jack, cleaning, repair PCB if needed, and re-solder new jack in place.
TIP - if it is not charging, remove battery, and gently put pressure from different angles with the power cord plugged in, and try to turn it on. If it turns on with pressure from a specific angle, it would indicate the DC jack is indeed loose, and likely needs to be replaced. It works becomes the pressure is making the electrical contact that has other wise been broken. ALSO, if it turns on easily, yet losses power at certain angles, its a similar issue.
TIP2 - If it still indeed charges regardless of the angle, and does not lose power, it may be a "Modular" DC jack, meaning the jack connects to the main board through a wire harness, and is less prone to breaking the electrical contacts, and the jack is simply loose inside it's retaining clips/slides. Minor disassembly and hot glue are quick fixes for this since usually the plastic clip/slide in the chassis have broke.

GOOD LUCK! :)

Broken dc jack on acer 3003ln

If the internal DC Power Jack is loose, you will have totake the laptop apart to repair it. The DC Power Jack is on themotherboard and most times it is soldered to the motherboard. That meansyou will have to desolder the old one and solder a new one in it's place. Sometimes the dc power jack sits in a slot between the bottom case and palmrestwhich hold it in place and has a cable harness that plugs into the motherboard.

The dc power jack will not accept power. I have to wiggle it to get the blue light to show that the laptop is charging. My computer is the acer aspire 5920-6423. I was told it wouldn't have to soldered...

If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.

The laptop needs the motherboard removed to get access to the DC jack so it can be resoldered or replaced if it is faulty.
This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

My monitor want come on acer 9300-5005 laptop

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad.
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced

Difficulty charging

Sounds like you have a bad internal dc jack. These go bad after so long. This is a normal problem on all laptops. Make sure it isn't your battery by seeing if you could use another same model battery. If having tried a new charger and a battery and the problem still persists then take it to your neighborhood computer shop or send it to me. I can replace the dc jack for you since you'd have to sodder a new one on.

you need to buy a new jack for replacement. then solder the broken one out of the mainboard and clean the place and solder the new one. or some acer have a separet jack then that one is easy only to change.

Broken wire from power inlet socket

I finally managed to remove the cover and solder the broken wire. Works fine exept the keyboard, but that is a result of old soda spill. This computer has been used with external keyboard for some months. I cleaned the keyboard with luke warm water and placed it for dry for 36 hours, but there are still som keys that dont work and Fn seems to be constantly on.
