SONY REAR PROJECTOR TV KDP51WS550-LED LIGHT ON FRONT OF TV BLINKS 10 TIMES-TV WILL TURN ON WITH SOUND BUT NO PICTURE FOR ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS THEN SHUTS OFF-I KNOW IT IS PROBABLY A POWER SUPPLY DIODE, CAPACITOR, OR TRANSISTOR, I JUST DONT KNOW WHICH ONE OR THE PART NUMBER. My father is wanting to repair it himself. He does have some knowledge of television electronics.

Thank you so much I will look into that. Also last night it started blinking 5 times then 10 times. So I'm assuming 5 blinks means another problem?

OK, 10 times is HV protection (High Voltage) and problem can be in D board and Q8013, Q8014 can be shorted along with R8051 open.
also IC8005 can be damaged.
All above parts on D board.
I would recommend to get related service manual for proper diagnose of problem in TV.
Good luck.

G'day Lee, sounds like you may have a 'dry joint' meaning the solder has come adrift, to open the back up will need special tools to fix it. Hope you can get it fixed. Cheers Greg.

My Sony Trinitron tv is not turning on. It has turned on a couple of times, but the standby light on the front is blinking. WHat's wrong?

Sony TV LED & Blinking Codes - What Does It Mean When Standby/Timer Light Flashes

Sony has provided a "self-diagnosis function" with your TV, that in the case of abnormalities or problems the LED or red blinking light on the Timer/Standby indicator flashes a number of times to indicate the issue.
when there is trouble with your Sony Television set -- it indicates the issue in either the diagnostic mode, or even more commonly by flashing a series of LED blinks or flashes on the front of your television. Each set or frequency of the blinks indicates a very specific problem with the television itself.
Sorry but unless you may be able to repair the television set yourself , please call a local repair shop to the have a repairman sent out,,
