Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 Webcam

My videos are dark and grainy

I have the Micorsoft VX6000 and it's very dark and grainy. My room lighting is poor. I am guessing its the lighting. If so, what would be
the best way to improve the lighting. Thanks in advance.

It's dependent on where the light is. If you're back lit your best bet is to check the box in the cam settings for backlight comp. (You can access the cam settings from the icon in the tray) If you're lit from the front using a lamp or something you don't need a lot a ton of light as too much light can white you out.

Can i take video in a dark room

Unfortunately, the Sanyo Xacti PD2 only supports a flash for still shots and dose not have a lamp light for the video side of the camera. You'll have to provide your own source of light for good quality video in a dark setting.
Hope this helps.

It is a 42" Westinghouse SK32H520S and it worked

It is probably a poor connection through the coax. I would replace the coax and that may resolve the issue.

Fujifilm finepix f20le. circular grainy pic loss of sound

First go to the SETUP menu and make sure that the PLAYBACK VOLUME setting is set to a value greater than 0. Try increasing the shutter speed of any photos as CCD's will notoriously produce grainy images on slow shutter speeds. Grainy videos will indicate poor light, camera shake during filming or moving too quickly so the autofocus cannot function correctly, or using too low a resolution and will be especially noticeable at 640 x 480 when viewed on a large high resolution screen. If all the above make no difference then you may need to get the camera serviced.

Very poor quality pictures; grainy.

This is easily fixed - go into MENU and you will find a picture quality Q. This is designed to go from FINE - Medium - POOR in order to enable you to take more photos on you cameras memory. Install at least a 1gb memory stick into your camera and then choose HIGHEST QUALITY you will now be able to get plenty a photos at the highest quality possible gor the camera with an 8.2 megapixal those photos should be really nice. INSIDE PHOTOS ARE DARK AND GRAINY

Regardless of the camera make/model... dark, grainy photos are usually a result of a lighting problem. Looking at the specs for your camera, the flash is only speced for 4m. If you are shooting near or above this you might have trouble. I ended up using an external flash that is triggered by sensing the cameras flash. Pretty inexpensive and pics ar 10x better. Try a local camera shop or B&H Photo (NYC) is where I got mine set up on line.

Many factors can affect the image quality of your pictures. If you are experiencing blurry images, please try adjusting the focus ring located around the lens. This will allow you to focus the camera image on objects at different distances. Also, make sure there is good lighting. Improving the lighting conditions can improve the image quality considerably.
Connection Issues:
If the image quality is poor while transmitting video over the Internet using video enabled programs such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo! or AOL Instant Messenger, your connection speed to the Internet directly affects the image quality of the transmitted video. Corporate LAN, DSL/cable modem connections will result in the best image quality experience, while dial-up connections may result in choppy and overall poor quality because of the slower connection speed. Even broadband connections such as DSL/cable modem may experience choppy video at times because of Internet traffic or slow upload speeds. If the image appears clearly in the camera software, most likely your Internet connection may be responsible for the poor image quality in your video program.
Changing Display Adapter Settings:
If you are still experiencing a distorted, fuzzy or grainy image, you may need to change the settings for your display adapter. For optimal image quality, please make sure the video display adapter is set to display at least 16-bit high color or higher. To change the color palette please perform the following steps:
  1. Click on "Start," "Settings," and "Control Panel."
  2. Double-click on the Display icon.
  3. Click on the tab labeled Settings.
  4. In the dialog box labeled Color Palette, verify the video mode is set to 16-bit (high color) or 24-bit (true color).
  5. Also, check with the manufacturer of the video card for updated video drivers.
Low Light Boost:
If you cannot do anything to improve the lighting situation, some Logitech video cameras have an option for "Low Light Boost." If there is an option for "Low Light Boost," try enabling the "Low Light Boost" in the QuickCam software. To do this:
  1. Open the QuickCam software.
  2. At the bottom right hand corner of the camera image box, click on the arrow next to the QuickCam icon.
  3. Choose "Advanced Camera Settings".
  4. Under the Image Enhancement box, place a check mark in the "Low Light Boost" option.
  5. If that does not improve the image quality, try adjusting the other image settings, such as contrast, saturation brightness, gain and white balance.
  6. Click OK when your are done.
