Sega mega drive with av cable

I'm trying to connect my sega mega drive 1 to my hd tv, I bought a yellow/white av tv cable and have tried plugging that into the tv and put a scart converter on and both times it comes up with a black screen. sega seems to be working, red light on, tried different cartridges. i'm not very technical so any help would be great. i dont have the rf cable and my tv wont let me manually scan for analogue channels anyway. thanks

If your screen is black and you unplug the cable from the megadrive , does the screen go blue ? if so the machine is sending out an a/v signal to the tv and your problem lies with the game cartridge contacts being dirty or the contacts in the slot on the console being dirty , try cleaning the contact strip with some electrical contact cleaner on a cotton bud or small paint brush , hope this helps ,its saved loads of my games

SOURCE: my sega flashes on screen but wont come on

Video game cartridge terminals and the console connector pin require servicing similar to this service.

Please let me know how I may assist further.

SOURCE: I have a sega genesis

Are you sure it should be on channel 3? Not a TV input mode? Also it could be that the console is shot. Or the cables don't work with the console itself.

My Sega turns on but it wont show a picture

Well it depends on the type of cable you got... if you got those red, white, yellow cables :) and it doesn't work try wiggling the cable in back of your genesis (common problem among most MAJORLY with the old style adapter) or chances are your cables broken or you have a shot av output

Cant get picture on tv from sega mega drive. concerned might be missing a part

Ok i have many sega systems and to connect a sega it sometimes depends on what version of the sega mega drive you have i will tell you how to connect your sega after you've already plugged in your power adapter. If there is a plug on the back of your sega that says RF out then you should have a TV out/ antenna in adapter. One end goes into your sega and the other TV out should go into your TV then if there is already an antenna in your TV unplug it and and plug it into your TV/ antenna adapter where it should say something like antenna in. Don't worry if you have cable or directv it will still work it just might be slightly fuzzy because of the old technology. If you dont have the RF out then you should have a plug in the back that says AV out and all you do is do the same thing only the TV/ antenna adapter you should have should be able to plug into the AV out plug. Any other concerns about your sega, like how to connect your sega CD to your sega console, or most of its other products just let me know and if this doesnt work let me know, thank you.
