HP dv6810us laptop fan too noisy? Any solutions?

Hello,

Here is a simple guide to cleaning your laptop fan if your are comfortable opening the computer.

http://www.rightinfonow.com/laptop-noise

If not it is most likely that the fan is clogged with dirt and dust and just needs cleaning. If blasting it externally with compressed air does not work you or a local tech will need to open the computer and clean it.

Thanks

Dustin

Could be your fan is bust or very dirty try cleaning it and the air vents. NB opening your pc may void warranty.

Noisey fans

Noisy fans are not dirty fans, they're simply noisy. There is nothing to clean.

HP ZD8000 Some questions

When it comes to overheating, its because the laptop is in a dirty environment and what happens is the fan from the cpu is sucking up all the dirt and dust so its getting caught up between the cpu fan vent and the heatsink thus less air flow and components getting hotter.

Just make sure your laptop is in a clean environment and has enough room to breathe when running and everything will be fine.

HP Pavilion DV6500 - The fan makes too much noise!

If at all possible " do not try and clean the fan yourself " you will kill the m/board - take it to an auth Hp serice agent and get a new CPU heatsink assy & fan unit fitted. I work on Hp units all the time and I am always very carefull of the electrostatic conditions. Try and do it yourself and it will prove expensive. If you have warranty log a service call for a replacement heatsink

Loud fan on hp pavilion laptop dv8000

Your fan is getting old and dirty, and will probably fail at some point. The cheap plastic bushings usually wear out, that is where you hear the noise.

Sometimes a good cleaning with canned air will help you. Usually there are vents on the side and bottom of the laptop you can blow from one hole in short spurts out the other hole.

Some models you can remove a few screws on the bottom and get right to the fan and clean it or replace it if needed. Usually they come with a heat sink for the CPU also, so it is an assembly.

Cleaning is your first step to see if that helps. There are usually big furballs in there!

Fan noise somewhere under the Enter button

It is not a good idea to turn off your fan. Your fan is crucial to making sure your CPU stays cool enough so that it will not overheat. It sounds as if your fan may be dirty and needs cleaning, but being a new laptop it should still be under warranty. I would call the support line for the manufacturer and let them look at it and they will replace it if needed. If it is under warranty save yourself the headache of trying to fix it yourself unless you are confident and experienced. Good Luck!

Over heating

I would suggest you to check the heatsink and cpu fan,
it could be dirty, if it is dirty, clean it and it should work fine.

To see heatsink and cpu fan, open 4 screw on the back of your laptop.
remove the cover, remove the fan screw (3), remove fan,
remove 4 screw on the cpu heatsink, remove the heatsink.

if your heatsink and fan are clean, it could be something else cause the shut down.
in this case you should send it for repair.
