Question about Printers & Copiers

5 Answers

I have a epson RX680 all in one. I bought it directly from Epson on line a couple months ago. This morning I tried to Print 2 copy's of a grandaughter. The first one printed fine but the second one was terrible. It had 3 or 4 times as much ink on it as needed.I have tried everything I can think of and still can't get to print right. How do I correct this Problem. Thank you, Leslie Hamrick imapoolplr@yahoo.com

Head Cleaning (tried that already? skip to the last part)

Please confirm that the head cleanings were done using the most effective method listed below.

To ensure good results on your printouts, please use genuine Epson ink cartridges. Epson does not recommend the use of refilled inks or 3rd party ink cartridges. To help preserve the life of the ink cartridges, you should turn the printer off when it is not in use.

NOTE:
You cannot clean the print head if an ink cartridge is expended, and may not be able to clean it when a cartridge is low. You must replace the cartridge first.

1. Right-click the printer icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (the taskbar) and select Head Cleaning.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the cleaning cycle, which lasts around 1 1/2 minutes.

The ON light flashes throughout the cleaning cycle and stays on green when the cycle is finished.

CAUTION:
Never turn off the RX680 during a cleaning cycle or you may damage it.

4. When the ON light stops flashing and remains on, you can check to see if the nozzles are clean:

Click Print Nozzle Check Pattern and click Print.

5. Check the nozzle check pattern that prints to see if there are gaps in the lines.

If there are no gaps, click Finish.

If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, click Clean to clean the print head again.

You may need to clean the print head up to 3 times. You can also turn the printer off and wait at least 6 hours. Then try printing again.

If the nozzle check still has gaps after you run 3 consecutive cleaning cycles and then leave the printer turned off for 6 hours, your printer will require service.

Go for warranty!

If your printer is still within its one-year replacement warranty, please contact the Epson when you are with your computer and printer setup.

"It had 3 or 4 times as much ink on it as needed"

    - ink delivery system failure, cartridge replacement won't help.
    - printer head alignment not applicable to the issue.

In this case I would say that the cartridge is having some communication issues with the printer or the jets on the cartridge are damage. I would recommend first replacing the cartridges with new one and or calling epson so that they may resolve the issue for you by providing a new unit or suggesting further assistance.

Epson RX680-How to print only in B+W

You can set it to "grayscale" and supposedly print only in black/grey.
However, Epson printers use a small amount of every color even when printing black only or greyscale (black). Your printer will still not work with one color tank empty.

Here is how to set it:
Open the properties page for the RX680 and on the "Main" tab, click on [Advanced]. A Note may appear egarding incorrect settings.
Click [Continue]. Find the [ ] Grayscale box and check it, the [OK]
[OK], etc.

Here is Epson's note on using grayscale / colors:

Connecting to printer via Bluetooth but driver is missing

using the bluetooth software on your computer, do not tell the computer you are looking for a bluetooth printer, instead, use search for all devices, then the printer will show-up and select it.

printing via bluetooth does not require a driver (it's just like printing from your cellphone)

Q: How can I tell if the computer or the printer is causing a print quality problem? A: You can print a nozzle check pattern to determine whether the print quality problem is caused by the Epson Stylus Photo RX680 Series or some other source.
