My 5 lb spring scale is broken

I have a kubota 5lb spring scale with a flat circular top that is removable after my 4 year old played with it...it no longer goes down to register weight. I opened it up and it seems there is little to no parts on this scale so if I saw a design of how works I would know where the parts are suppose to be and how they are hooked up. Any idea how I can see the designs inside? Thanks

SOURCE: scale appears to be inaccurate

this type of less resoluted scale hasn't repeatability. if you wish to repair it, change the loadcell. use 2 x scale capacity of load cell.

Sounds like somehow it was calibrated to your weight as zero instead of 0. I would contact manufacturer here is the contact info.

Is there a way to calibrate without 3-50 pound weights?

water weighs 10lb to the gallon ( engilish measurement-calculate amount for us gallon)
so get your self a jug and place it on the scales empty adjust the scales to zero
fill the jug with a measured amount of water (example 1 pint will weigh 1.25lbs
then set the scales to the reading of 1.25lbs
to check the scales accuracy you can add extra water to the jug (say 4 pints ) and the scale should read 5lb

You gonna have to remove the front and look for a broken spring, If the springs are all there then the snubber pad probably needs replacing.

Removed old strut last night Today can't get new

Installation
  1. sww~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: The bearing and seal assembly is press-fit onto the upper mount. The mount washers must be installed in the correct orientation.
NOTE: Be sure to check the spring insulator for damage before assembly. If the outer metal splash shield is bent or damaged, it must be carefully bent back, so it does not touch the locator on the bearing and seal assembly.

NOTE: New gas struts are shipped with the rod in a locked down position. To extend the new strut, remove the external tie down and/or rotate the upper end of the rod, counterclockwise.

Install the coil spring insulator, coil spring, and upper mounting parts to the new strut assembly. Make sure the spring is correctly seated in both spring seats.
