The XBox 360 is a wonderful video
game console, however, with heavy usage, the laser (and/or other components in
the drive) will eventually burn out.
The first signs of the laser starting to burn out is that your game will start
freezing during game play. Eventually the games will stop reading altogether
and you will get an "OPEN TRAY" message when you put a disc in and close the
tray. What this means is that the XBox 360 thinks that there is no disc in
You can find more information about this issue, find parts to repair it, or send your system to repair all at the following website:
This sounds like your lenses is getting dusty. Try buying a lenses cleaning disk and see if that helps. They are usually at local stores for only $10-$15. Here's a few examples.
If it stops working all together, and the lenses cleaning disk doesn't help, then you either have to send it to Microsoft to get it repaired, or get the lenses itself replaced by doing it yourself or a third part company. Hope this helps! -MarcusTurtle

the tray will eventually open just dont let off the "A" button when it
does open then let off the "A" button and insert ur game and close ur
I had a problem like this a few days ago, my 360 had problems reading my disks. I ended up opening it up and cleaning the laser in the dvd drive. After that it played fine, if that doesn't work you might need a new dvd drive.
JUST SHAKE THE XBOX, It will start to sound really loud but will read the game... The problem starts when the tray stop closing due to a displacement from the closing motor. The laser then stops moving and gets stuck. Just shake the xbox (turned on) and that will get the laser goin...
