The normal keyboard is called a qwerty keyboard because the letters in the upper left portion of the letters spells qwerty and it would be very surprising to find out that you had a different style. As far as the power problem, you will need to order a new battery for the laptop from what it sounds like.

Toshiba Portege 7200 i try to fomat it it does no format why

Windows won't as a rule allow format of an older system onto a newer system, it goes into protect mode.
If you are trying to format the laptop with say XP and you have XP with SP3 installed, because SP3 is newer than XP it will try to stop you from destroying the newer system. Matbe you are running out of space?

Shift key not working

You have 2 Shift keys on the keyboard. If the other shift key is working then the shift key that is not working is defective. You should consider replacing the keyboard on your laptop. There is no setting on Windows that can disable the shift key.

**Note : If both Shift keys are not working, Try to check if sticky keys feature on windows is on. Sticky keys should be disabled. To disable sticky keys, Click on start and Go into control panel > Accessibility Options, and under keyboard there is sticky keys. Remove the tick and click apply and OK.

**If "Use Sticky Keys" is unchecked, that means sticky keys is disabled.

sounds like your keyboard needs to be replaced. If you depress the keys and they seem fine, but nothing comes up, then it may need reppacement...http://www.acer-laptop-battery.com/acer-aspire-5315-keyboard-as53152142-as53152191-as53152940-p-1408.html

Keyboard not work

Hello ,

As per what i understand from the issue you stated it has the possible solutions :
1. perform a Power Drain Test to drain out the accumulated static charge from within the notebook (happens with every laptop) - let the laptop be on , remove the power cord , remove the battery directly without directly shutting the laptop. The laptop will shut down once you remove the battery. Then press and hold the power button for the next 50 seconds continuously. Then attach the battery , then the power cord and power on the notebook. Check the keyboard . If no go , then

2. use an external keyboard . Attach the external keyboard to the laptop and boot into the normal OS desktop. Open Device Manager and check if there are any conflicts. Or else directly update/flash the BIOS by clicking on the link below :
www.hp.com

If unable to do so , please mail back giving the Serial Number of the laptop and the Product Number (loacted underneath the laptop on a white label beginning with s/n and p/n respectively ) and i shall send you the exact BIOS update/flash link .

Regards ,
Puloma

Keyboard + toucpad freezes

Might seem ovious but you may want to try Acer support and look for a new Driver.. Also check under Control Panel...Mouse options... and also check device profiles to make sure windows isn't loading a "docked profile which may disable touchpad and laptop keybaord use.

Acer Aspire 3004 keyboard and touchpad error

Just resolved same problem on Acer Aspire 5000 by removing the battery, then goto device manager and disable "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" you can then put your existing battery back into the latop with any problems with the keyboard and touchpad. Mad solution I know but it worked for me
