Humming noise when Dvd plays

I am a young woman and dont know much about this stuff!! I just bought this system and seem to have it hooked up ok, everything is working so far. My only problem is when I play a Dvd there is loud humming noise. What can this be?

P.S- noise is coming from Speakers mainly but the Dvd player is making a noise too.

My kid says he wants to learn the guitar but he is interested in rock and pop and not in the more traditional stuff. He is only young, but I dont know what to do?

If your kid is young I wouldn't get too stressed about his instrument choice. Even though you really need to learn classical guitar first, if it's just for mucking around, you could buy your kid a toy electric guitar. It's easy to play and gives children a taster of playing an instrument.

I can't seem to get my dvd player to play on screen

Set the TV to look for a signal on the same input your are hooking your dvd player to. Example, if your dvd is hooked to video 1, set the TV to show video 1 on the screen.

My computer is anoying

The hum is probably AC noise. First check that your cable to the amp is correctly shielded and all connections are good. A bad connection especially the ground can cause this.

You may want to put a ferrite core on the audio cable close to where it enters the amp too...

Need help with the system

Did you connect your TV to the DVD player via video cable (S-video, composite, or component)? That might be why you cant see the screen and stuff. To connect to TV, just connect your VIDEO OUT on the dvd player to the VIDEO IN on your TV. About that sub...you can hook it up, but it will only have as much punch as the player will allow. In other words, dont expect much out of a 20" sub if you have a 100 watt system.
