The picture when tv is on HD is to large for the screen. It seems fine on the top but along the bottom it is not even all across. When watching scores scroll across they drop off on the left side. The wording being shown is not even on the screen during football games. It was fine until it was worked on. Now I watched as he hit a series of strokes on the remote to adjust the screen, but he was to much in a hurry so he did not do the entire screen. Do you know the codes he used to adjust the the screen size?
You did not say what kind of repair work was done on your set but suspect that is was a failure in the convergence circuit. That said I also suspect that aftermarket IC's where installed that are not up to par with the originals. Good Quality IC's and undoing the adjustment already made should cure your problem with minimal labor time involved. To do a Full Convergence Alignment will cover up the problem but the IC's won't last followed by replacement again with quality parts and another full alignment.

Keep in mind that not all programs and show are in widescreen format. When set to normal, you will get those black bars on the sides because the program is sized for the older TV's. Some TV's will have a zoom option, but that will cut off some of the top and the bottom of your picture.
Until everything goes widescreen, you are stuck in normal with those black bars or widescreen with the fat people.
I hate distortion in my TV image, so I am perfectly fine with my TV on normal.
It appears that on this television you can only adjust the picture size when you are using the twin picture feature. You must adjust the picture size with your other remote control. Since I do not know whether you are connected to a cable box or a satellite tv box or a blu ray player or a DVD player I cannot be very specific. On your other remote control you should had an hd zoom button, aspect, format, ratio, #, or etc. Those buttons change the picture size. The other factor determining picture size is the resolution the equipment connected to your tv is set to. This tv supports 1080i but you should also try setting the connected equipment to 720p or 480p or 480i. Also the connected equipment may be connected to your tv in two places so make sure you are on the correct selection using the tv video button on the Sony remote.
I had the same problem and tried everything with the tv to get it back to normal. I would look for what was suggested by tvtek, but also look on your cable remote or box for an "aspect" button. That fixed my problem. If your problem occurs with DVDs as well then you may have another issue, but if it is with cable only, try this. When I called our cable company the tech said alot of people this button without even knowing it.
To properly diagnose this problem, access to
the servicer menu will be important. Also, the
service literature for the horizontal and vertical circuits may be needed.Contact a tech
who can help you that is familiar with Durabrand.
Go into the setup menu of the TV, and you'll find a category called DISPLAY or ZOOM. That's where you can change the aspect ratio so that it fits on the screen. You'll probably get a gray band on the top and bottom of the screen due to the re-sizing.
do you happen to have any speakers of any size within about 3 feet in any direction of the tv??
move them if so,
I have large speakers about 5 feet from my tv at home and i still get some distortion once in a while with red and dark green streaks.
