Battery not working

Hey...  I bough a brand new battery for my friends acer aspire 3610. It is called LAC-63D1, 14.8 V - 4400mAh! The originaly battery is 14.8 V - 2200mAh.  The new battery is not working - but when it is in place, the laptop is only on with the charger! And the "battery manager" is not displaying anything at all with this new battery!! Is there some kind of answer for this? Kind regards Daniel

Check to make sure the new battery doesnt have some clear plastic that covers the terminals. SOme new batteries have something covereing them when they ship to prevent it from gathering dirt/grit or coroding, or touching anything metal.

You will have to probably charge it for several hours the first time as it needs a deep cycle charge. It depend on the battery type.

Be sure to read any material that came with it, or at least give it a quick glance, it may not be compatible or have some locking mechanism.

It may look exactly like the old one but if it has slightly different pins, it may not work.

I have an Acer Aspire 3610 notebook. It wont charge

How old is your battery? When you use your laptop, do you run it on just the battery or do you use your a/c adapter and battery? If you're going to use your laptop for an extended period of time, it's recommended to remove the battery and run off of a/c power alone. This helps to extend the life of your battery. Over time, using both a/c and battery will cause your battery to charge/discharge, which dramatically shortens the life of the battery.

You may simply have a dead battery.

Another alternative is that you have a bad power unit, which is what the a/c adapter plugs into on your laptop. My guess is that you most likely have a dead battery.

Boot problems with Acer Aspire 3610

do you have power ? if no, check your power outlet and ac adapter first, if both of them are ok, it could be your motherboard.
if you have power but no display, this is called no post.
reseat your memory. if still not working, use 1 memory and try to put it in different ram slot. and if this is still not working, your motherboard is bad

Battery

I can't forsee a problem but I'd backup my system and buy a backup battery if it were my system.
There are so many computer parts/battery stores online these days but I can't recommend any particular one. Shop around and do some price comparisons. I've had luck buying batteries on ebay, but use caution there or you might end up buying a battery that's deader than yours.
Cheers,
Rick
