Do a soft reset by inserting a sharp object into the player's reset pinhole until the player switches off.

    Installation process

    1. Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. (If the
installation program does not automatically run, click the .exe file in
the root directory of the CD.)

    2. From the installer menu,
select your preferred language; the welcome screen will appear. Click
Next to advance to the next pages until you reach the Install Software
page to start the installation of the Firmware Manager.

    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

If you just need to connect the player to the computer you do not need additionsl software on Windows XP and Vista. The player disk will be displayed as assitional disk under my computer.

The manual SA30xx English user manual
    says:

"You can use your player to store and carry data files by copying data files into your player with Windows Explorer.".
That means that you will just copy and paste from music folder into PC to the Philips USB disk.

You need to get an USB cable and connect to PC.

    On PC , after
you wait a bit, you get a small message near the clock, and sometimes
also a window popping up, telling you that the new disk had been
    detected.

Depending on windows settings you may also get a menu with several option, the last one will be open folder to view files.
That opens straight the mp3 folder.

If that does not happen go into My computer folder or Computer on Vista, and look for a new disk.
There you will find the new disk that is your MP3 player.

    Once
you have the folder with your disk opened, open the folder where you
stored MP3 on your computer, and copy them into the MP3 disk.

If there is an error message or the computer does not see the disk then there is a problem, in that case let me know, I will give you more instructions.

Let me also know if you need the cable, we can look for it.

Connect to PC and use device manager to repair

If you have a Philips HDD Series, it will not work with Windows Vista or Windows Media Player 11 except for briefly, then the player will stop working one day. Your only hope is to use it with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10 - it is, basically, an obsolete player at this point in time.

The Philips Device Manager has a strange feature - it only properly updates your device if you have the newest version of the Device Manager:
Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager:
www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed
Enter in your exact model #
Click on the link for your exact model #
Click on the Software & Drivers section
Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software"
Install the new Device Manager
Open and run the "Update" tab

Don't format the player. Run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager. If you have lost your installation CD, you can get the Philips Device Manager from Philips website.

Recovery Mode for Philips' GoGear
Open the Philips Device Manager (Start à All Programs à Philips Digital Audio Player à SAXXX à Philips Device Manager) and click on the “Repair” tab. Then click on the “Repair” button to start the repair process. Most of the time, when your player is in that state, the Device Manager will not recognize that your GoGear is plugged in. If this is the case: Disconnect the player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your device if there isn't anything internally wrong with the player. Warning: this procedure will result in your songs being erased off the player, so they will have to be reloaded.

Connect to pc

Sounds like the system files have been corrupted or deleted.

The HDD6330 is only compatible with Windows XP (With Service Pack 2) & Windows Media Player 10. If you have version 11, you will need to uninstall it to roll back to version 10.

Install and run the Philips Device Manager from the product CD.

Connect the player to the power supply and PC.

If the player is recognised by the PC, select the repair/restore option in Philips Device Manager, and follow the on-screen prompts.
This will format the player and re-load the firmware.

NOTE: THIS WILL DELETE ALL TRACKS ON THE PLAYER.

If this doesn't help, then post details of what happens, and I'll try to help further.
