Had the same problem. Opened and removed the front of cabinet, than lifted the top. One of the screws that mount the outer drum to the innner drum had come loose. The protruding screw was banging on the left side of dryer. Tighten and rechecked all screws (2 pairs of 2). Noise problem solved.

You need to replace the tumbler guide rubber wheel. I would suggest to avoid further issues, replace all base guides.

It requires dismantling the Dryer.

Connect to three post terminal - black and red are interchangeable and belong on the right and left terminals. white goes to center, green goes to machine chasis not to any terminal post

How do i side vent my maytag atlantis electric dryer?

Attached is a link to a diagram of your dryer.

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170653

You would have to remove the back panel. Remove the existing vent pipe, install a 90 deg elbow of the same size diameter. Then cut a hole in the right or left side of the dryer cabinet that would line up with the new elbow.
Check the side cabnet of your dryer, it appears on the diagram that there may be a 4" knock out for a side exit vent.
Good luck, let me know.

Which wa does the belt on a Maytag Atlantis dryer run around the motor and idler pulley. I have the belt groove side down, which is the way it goes in the Atlantis, but I couldn't find a schematic for the...

Hi you're correct in putting it groove side down. Now make a loop, like when you first started tying your shoes with the slack around the drum. Push the entire loop just beneath the idler pulley through the metal channel and apply pressure to the idler pulley assembly. pushing it towards the motor pulley until you can get the loop you are holding over the motor pulley and Waa Laa you've installed your new belt. Good Luck!

My dryer squeeks when running

Hi, I've had a similar problem (I think) on my MDG7400 dryer. There was a cyclical squeak, metal against metal. It turned out to be the screw that holds the drum paddle to the drum. It had worked itself loose and was scraping against the inside wall of the dryer. Remove the front door lift the top, and tighten 'er up. Hope that helps.

Loud scraping sound

If it was put on a dolly from the back or dropped on the bottom the blower housing could be in contact with the drum as it goes around.
