Virus Check

when my F761usa screen turned black just happened I was reading my emails, since then I never can turn on my F761usa, not even get bios reboot. I thought I got deadly virus attacking to kill my notebook. during investigation we found our neighbour invaded our wireless router (we can see Nikky ipod as device name appeared in router, we blocked it then another Nikky phone as device name appeared again), meanwhile we found log files recording naughtyamerica website, we realized our neighbour visited some dangerous websits that's why I kept getting very dirty-emails over past 3 years.
By adjust netgear and notebook parameters setting finally our neighbour can't steal our internet services any more.
Then we spent $10 to convert internal HD as external usb HD and could be accessed by our another HP DV7. I doubt it was virus caused it.
we has att DSL internet services which provides McAfee, we has very old Netgear WGT624 wireless router but can block/data secured and window vista provides network secured setup.
we didn't buy any other virus software but run the free version(advanced systemcare).

How to use the wireless key

Wireless keys are like your secret password. Provided you have a wireless router and wireless devices to access internet - You might want to secure the wireless signals emitted by the router to ensure that your neighbour is not using free internet :-). So all you do is access the router's setup page and under wireless tab enable the wireless security feature.

Wireles security generally of two types

select the one suits best to your network and save the changes. once you are done with the router - you will now search for wireless network from your computer/s and select the network. The router will now ask you to type the password (the one you eariler entered on the router). Enter the correct password and you will be connected. Now your neighbours can see your network but cannot access it unless you share your password with them.

Third party WLANS is disrupting signal on my mobile phone

You have a neighbour, near the "back" of your house, with a wireless network (or wireless telephone) that is interfering with your wireless network.

Take the telephone "base" unit to the back of your house, and plug it in. It will sense your neighbour's network, and choose a different "channel" that does not conflict with your wireless telephones.

Or, take your laptop to your backyard, and walk about, and watch the "signal strength" go up and down, in order to identify which neighbour is operating the competing network. Turn your back to each neighbour, in turn, while holding your laptop, to see if putting your body "between" his network and your laptop _decreases_ the signal-strength. Turn and face each neighbour, and the signal-strength should _increase_. Liaise with the neighbour, to see if they can change "channels".

Can't conect to modem

I have just set up a broadband connection for some neighbours using the Thomson router and had similar problems.

Leave the computer on, power down the router, leave it for a few seconds and power it up again. It worked for me.

But it seems that we have this problem every time i,e if the router is on and you switch on the computer it won't connect, but if the computer is on and you switch on the router everything works as it should. I haven't got to the bottom of this yet.

You need to use some form of encryption for your network. WEP is the most basic, but WPA would be better. Consult the helpfile or router manual for specifics.

D-Link wireless router and Belkin Wireless G USB Network adapter

Set your wireless network as a preferred network and to automatically connect to it. Also set it at the top of the list so that it takes precedence. If you continue to get conflicts, change the channel of the router.
