Question about Sceptre X37sv-Naga 37 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

No power. The technician says it is a "bad hi voltage inverter". He says he has no source for this part. Sceptre says they sell a "power board" ($285+s&h).Does anyone know if a hi voltage inverter is part of the "power board" that Sceptre sells?

My 3 year Sceptre 27" died. Local TV tech said it was the power module. Charged $25 for the diagnosis and wanted $190 to fix it. Took it home, popped the screws and the module almost fell out. It's a simple plug'n'play!!! Found a new module on eBay for $65 shipping included.

Why isnt it turning on. only the blue light turns on and then i try to turn it off and the rede light comes on. when the red light comes on it makes a hogh pitch sound?

More likely to be unstable DC voltages in the power supply due to bad DC filter caps, unplug it so it will not do more damages to the circuits.
See the 17" version here with bad caps:

Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/ he can make you a set of caps for you.
Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

My x42 screen turns blue for a few seconds and then from the bottom of the display it quickly blanks. You can still hear the sound but the picture remains blank. I have tried to change sources but it...

The problem can be bad backlight inverter board or it is not getting the 24vdc from the power supply. Look inside to see if it has bad caps with bulging tops. Also check the power supply output voltages, you should have 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24vdc.

Go to ebay, type X9g kimidi logic board. Usually, some seller might have pulled working parts from other monitors and sell them individually. If you cannot find them, google "buy x9g komodo logic board". Some website, I'm quite sure will sell them.

Monitor Powers off after a second or two.........

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

Check the fuses on YSUS & ZSUS boards, if found the fuse blown on that board, just try to replace the board.

To me it sounds like the bulb is having a problem with powering up. It may be an issue with the power adaptor or the outlet it is plugged into. Have you tried to plug it in, in other outlets?

I recently came accross one of these monitors (Planar PE191M) with the identical issue. The resolution was to replace the two 470ufd 25V capacitors that are located on the main power board. The main power board also contains the audio circuit and more importantly the inverter circuit that drives the CCFL backlighting. The suspect caps were identified using an ESR meter; if you happen to have one of these meters you can confirm this is the issue with your unit(s), alternatively you can just replace the two capacitors and see if it resolves your issue. Hope this info helps someone out there.
