Can I send and receive fax using a Cable Modem ?

Yes... simply hook your fax line into the main line of the modem and send... very simple.. domn't let these yahoos tell you diferent! I've been sending faxes this way for a long time.

No. The Cable Modem itself will not transmit and receive faxes like an analog telephone modem will. However, if you sign up for a service like jfax.com or eFax.com, you can receive and transmit faxes as email (for free or a minimal fee).

No you cannot fax directy with a cable or DSL modem unless you use an internet faxing service like efax or jfax etc. However, if you have a scanner and still have regular modem in your machine, you can fax that way as I have been doing. Also I want to point out that digital phone lines like Comcast Digital Voice and Verizon FIOS etc work with regular modems. Just use your regular modem as you would if you had an analog line.

you could always send faxes using digital phone services. but receiving will be a problem. so if it is only to send u can use regular fax machine over the digital phone cable.

Apprentice has the answer! I tried it and it works great! Instead of to the modem, I use vonage internet phone, so I just unplugged my phone from the adapter and plugged in the fax line from my computer to it and sent it no problem. Thanks Apprentice. This was the answer I was looking for.
