Make sure you put the carburetor back together properly. I did this once with a 25 h.p. Kohler. It had two flaps inside and somehow I reversed the flap.

The choke reduces the air flow into the carb. If you are having problems with the choke off, it means that not enough fuel is getting into the engine and it is running lean. When you choke it, the reduced air flow causes the mixture to be correct and it runs fine.
Start with the choke on full press the fuel siphon button till the lines are full of fuel. pull handle until it tries to start but stops. move the choke to half then start again. let it run for 60 seconds on full. don't move the choke to full or it will stop. Either slow the revs and then put the choke on full or keep the revs high and slowly move the choke to full (to allow the governor to slowly advance with the new revs)
In most cases , if your having to use the choke to keep it running after it is warmed up, it could be the fuel filter needs to be changed. That is the first step. The choke is designed to shoot fuel into chamber
a the engine warms up, the choke should go off. If a fuel filter is partially clocked it will restrict the fuel to flow freely to the engine. That means the choke has to do exactly that choke the engine. So herenis what I would do if it was mine, replace the fuel filter, air filter and make sure you good full oil and specially fresh gas. Not gas that has been sitting around in a can or tank all winter. Thanks mike
To stop a dieseling two stroke motor you can either choke them out (full choke) or block the air intake with a rag and starve the motor for air. Chances are the carburetor slide is sticking in a wide open position. Take the carburetor apart clean and inspect it. Also inspect the intake manifold for cracks and air leaks. For normal running add a kill switch so you can stop the motor without having to unplug or ground the spark plug. If the motorcycle is completely stripped except for a power wire to the coil, add the kill switch between the generator (wire coming out of the motor) and the coil.
the motor wont rev high on choke.the motor is suppose to fire once on choke. then turn the choke off.pull the start cord and the motor should start and run.check that the throttle conrol is on full. it should run fine.
They aren't designed to run with full choke on, the choke is for starting cold engines only, many times you can choke them pull the cord a few times and then turn the choke off or turn it down to start it. Then slowly reduce the choke until it runs fine on its own.
