A stupid question: After you installed the new card, did you switch your monitor to the new video connector? I have "fixed" this problem for several customers in the past. There is also the possibility the video card is not compatible with something on the system board chipset (it happens sometimes, not all hardware is 100% compatible), or you just have a bad card.

    Turning off the onboard graphics is done by going into the BIOS settings and finding the appropriate screen. On most Compaqs it's done by pressing the DEL key after you turn the power on. Some of them may require you press one of the function keys, so look at the message on the screen if DEL doesn't work. The system board usually autodetects the new graphic card and uses that one, but maybe this board is different. That's why I didn't mention it before.

If the PC boots without the video card, then it has an onboard card. Try checking BIOS and make sure display is set to onboard card. It is a good chance the drivers are already loaded. Even if they are not you should default display settings, Like 256 colors and 800x600 resolution.

How can I get a geforce 7600 gt graphics card to work in a el1333g-01w emachine

1) Did you install the drivers off of the installation CD disk, FIRST?
THEN physically install the graphics card?

If not you get a Driver Conflict.

When a device is installed, (Such as a graphics card, for one example), Windows breaks it's neck to find matching Drivers.

If you install the graphics card first, THEN the drivers, Windows will have already looked for THE drivers, and not found them.

Windows will then go through it's THOUSANDS of generic one size fit's all drivers, and match drivers up to the GeForce 7600GT graphics card.

This = No

Windows: "Which drivers do I use? These or THESE?"

Driver conflict.

IF, this is what has transpired you need to;

A) Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open. FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions. Unplug the monitor from the 7600GT. Remove the GeForce 7600GT.

B) Leave the case open.
Press, and hold the Power On button in for a count of 10 seconds. Let go.
Do this procedure 2 more times.

(IF,
1) You press the Power On button in, and the Power On LED light comes on, then after a few seconds goes out,...

2) And the same scenario happens again for the Second time, you press, and hold the Power On button in,....

3) See if it lights up again for the Third time. If so, hold the Power On button in again, until it goes out.

You are draining residual power. Don't worry about the CMOS Battery at present )

This action resets BIOS Setup back to the factory default settings.
In otherwords back to the Nvidia GeForce 6100 integrated graphics on the motherboard.

It also clears CMOS Error Codes.

C) Plug the monitor into the VGA port, in the I/O area at the back of the computer.
Plug the computer into power.

WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

Windows should load. After Windows is fully loaded, put the Installation CD Disk in the optical drive, and load ALL software.
(Drivers, Graphics User Interface, etc)

Let the computer run for a few minutes.
Now turn the computer off normally. Unplug from power. Observe Anti-Static Precautions, and reinstall that GeForce 7600GT.

Plug the monitor into the 7600GT. Plug the computer into power.
WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

Should get in the taskbar at the bottom, "Found new hardware", and perhaps another one, "Found GeForce 7600GT device"

Immediately go to the Nvidia graphics user interface, and open it up.
Set the graphics card to it's optimum performance.

(Also make SURE the Screen Resolution is set to what the monitor uses.

Right-click on empty area of desktop screen.
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
Left-click on the Settings tab.
Move the Screen resolution slider to the appropriate screen resolution.
Left-click on Apply.
Then left-click on OK.

Also make sure in the box under Color quality, that it states
Highest (32 bit) Use the blue down arrow to the right of the box, if it isn't. Left-click on Highest (32 bit)

For additional questions post in a Comment.
Would appreciate it if you would reply back in a Comment, as to your findings.

Regards,
joecoolvette

{To add;
Sometimes a computer has to be shut all the way down, after all of the above, and wait 60 seconds.
Then turn the computer on.

Sometimes you have to do this twice. Then Windows and BIOS catch on }

It doesn't sound good. If you have an onboard adapter you could try that and see if it has the same problem.
You could also remove the software, get the newest driver for your card (visit nvidia.com) and reinstall it, but I really doubt that will take care of it.
PNY generally has a good warranty on their cards, (5 years I think) If you have a dated sales receipt it's worth investigating.but even if it's dead and there is no warranty new cards can be found at very reasonable prices. If your mainboard is more than a year old, make sure you get a PCIE version 2.0 card (which is backwards compatible with PCIE 1.0) The newest 2.1 cards won't work at all on many older mainboards, and might even cause damaged to the difference in voltage.

My game wont work, it is Star Wars KOTON2

The mobility series from ATI Radeon are not suported by the game... i know that not even KOTOR 1 works with mobilyty cards. That is a thechnical problem you have due to the video chip. You can try to change it but since it is a mobility series it means you have a notebook computer... you will have some hard days rtying to find a video card for a notebook. Try at a repair center for laptops, maybe they have a solution. Note that the MOBILITY ans nVidia Geforce GO are not supported by many games... it's not worth it to mention that INTEL GMAs Graphic Cards are absolete for gaming. Try a ATI HD series or better an nVidia Geforce 7600GT 7800GT 8600GT or better. THe game works even on ATI 9200 and nVidia FX 5200 but there were never put in notebooks

ASUS en7600GT flashing screen.

i did not understand if the problem is in the exact moment of the driver installation or after. so i will post for both questions.
case 1: the display turn on/off when the driver is installed and you did not try it after the installation: in this case there is no need to worry because after installing the drivers it almost always happens that you get that effect. it happens because while installing the driver the installation is changing allot of the default display parameters and settings resulting in short flickers of the screen it should work perfectly normal after you restart your system.
case 2: in this case the display continues to flicker even after you restarted the computer after the driver installation in which case i would recommend installing the latest driver from the nvidia website [ http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us ]out dated drivers may conflict with more modern day software or even some updates to the other software on the computer.
good luck.

7600gt ?

Dear cgb1981; A lot of times graphic cards do conflict if one of the drivers gets corrupted. Try this: Reinstall the driver for the 7600gt card from the CD it came with. Most CDs will Auto-run upon insertion into the drive. It will detect the 7600gt. Click to install driiver. If that doesn't work, check BIOS and choose DEFAULTS for all screens. But the driver is the first culprit. Good luck.
