Question about Emerson MP530 MP3 Player

Mp3 player says ''no file'' after repeated Sync attempts

I've a little Emerson mp3 player my daughter gave me (new) to introduce me to mp3 players. She downloaded music files to it & all was well until I tried to add more music from my Windows Media Library. I keep getting messages like ''No File'' on the player, or the tracks attempt to play, but seem to ''get stuck'' after about a second. Or, I can plug the mp3 player into my stereo unit's USB port and the stereo will read the file, but be unable to play it, or sometimes it just shows no tracks at all. I've tried to update the driver and the same thing happens. I'm fairly computer savvy but not very savvy when it comes to mp3 players. I bought a new Sony Walkman mp3 player today but have decided not to open it up until I can determine if the Emerson player has ''croaked'' and that my lack of know-how is not the problem, though, the Sync process seems fairly straightforward to me. (Even the Voice Recorder doesn't work on Emerson mp3 player now.) I've only had the Emerson mp3 for 3 weeks, we got it at a Black Friday early morning sale.. Any ideas as to what is going on??

April - 15th 2009. My work Computer won't even recognise the Emerson Music Stick MP3 Music Player. I have loaded plenty of MP3's...for people. My home computer does recognise it, but will only partially start to load a file and Media player says it can't sync. My Pastor's computer will recognise it as well but nothing after the initial recognition.

It's the poorer people in our congregation that choose to buy the cheaper products, unfortunately they get what they pay for in this case.

I feel this has been a general rip off of the public. A cheap way to introduce peole to the MP3 world, but... it's also a cheap loss... but Big gain to the company. That is why people pay $250-350 for I-pods. Not fair.

Obviously there is no solution. People just throw their $15.00 away.

I have one of these too and finally figured it out! If you push the menu button on the side, you get a menu that you can scroll through with the left/right arrows on the face. The music icon should be first in the list, but if not, scroll until you get it highlighted. Once highlighted, push menu again to select it. My trouble was in not realizing that the menu button is also the select button!

I don,t know how to put music on my mp3 player

Windows Media Player has the Sync tab. I believe that WMP 9 does. But not 10. Either way, you can just open up the player in the My Computer folder. Then copy and paste any music files you have.

Philips GOGEAR 4 GB mp3, unable to download videos to it

Merry Christmas Leo! Just got a GoGear for my son and my daughter. I used the bundled application to convert a DIVX AVI file to the Philips GoGear format. Then just open the Windows Explorer, locate the Video folder on the Philips (which should show up as removable drive). Then copy the file over as you would any other data file.

Reformat the player:

There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.

Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

Unable to sync new music to player

I had a similar problem with my daughter's mp3 player, here is how I was able to fix it:

1. download the firmware software from here
2. unzip & install the software from step 1.
3. remove the battery from your mp3 player
4. start the software
5. hold down the play/pause button while attaching the mp3 player (via usb cable) to your computer
6. once the software's button labeled "start" is activated you can set down the mp3 player (you don't need to hold the play/pause button anymore).
7. check the box to format your data area (this will remove the mp3s, but is needed to get this to work properly again)
8. Click start and follow the on screen instructions

This worked for me... also, make sure your directory names + filenames are not overly long as this seems to be part of what is causing this problem.
