Won't turn on screen until it warms up

FYI- tv is now about 7 years old. after about 10 minutes of the tv being on with no picture- (just the slightly lighter then black blank screen- you can tell it's on, but no response whatsoever), I can turn it off, then back on, and the picture comes back on and the tv is responsive to input. Also, once it is finally on, for about a minute the screen is split in half with a perfect picture on the top and a picture with a white overlay on the other half. Another odd symptom- when I turn it off (after on for hours) you can hear what sounds like electronic plastic parts crackling from cooling down. I smell nothing. I am a smart guy so I want to tackle the problem myself. ANY help would be awesome...thanks in advance!

HCL652W picture faded will bulb replacement fix this

I would say that it is not worth replacing the bulbs. I had a similar experience with an old rear projection TV like that and I just cleaned all the dust out of it as well as I could. i cleaned the back of the screen, the mirror that the image reflects off of, and the bulbs themselves. I used a dry micro fiber cloth so as not to scratch anything. doing this might help you some, but if it is working and it is bright enough for you after a few minutes, I would just live with it until you can upgrade to a newer TV.

When you turn the tv on it goes to the settings screen and you can't get a picture for about 20 minutes until it warms up

Fist is contact Philips to see if this (with the model number) is a known issue or if there is a software upgrade available for this set.

My Mitsubishi Medallion tv stays on for about 10 minutes and then shuts down and won't turn back on until a period of time has passed. It is a rear projection tv about 9 years old. Can anyone help ex

When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.

What is the error code?

Set is 7 years old - it turns off intermintently

Ours used to do that - and then we moved it to another state with us. Since the move it doesn't shut itself off anymore. I suspect that the problem was dirt and dust inside which got knocked loose in the move and the shutdown was due to thermal limits being exceeded. You may want to try vacuuming or blowing out the dust inside if you feel comfortable opening up the unit.

Sony tv snow for first 5 minutes on

Probably dry solder joints in the tuner section.

When the set warms up, the faulty joint/s make contact, then lose contact again when it cools down.
