Yeah, you must have knocked the compressor when cleaning, sounds like one of internal spring/mounts in the comp' has dislodged.
replace the compressor is the only fix, unless you can somehow get to the lose spring.

SOURCE: Motor noise

You can remove the lower back cover panel and visually see the compressor and fan. Check the mounting bolts on the compressor to see if they are loose allowing the compressor to bounce around in there. You can also "stall" the fan with a wash cloth to stop the blade from turning (it's OK just try not to bend the blades). That will eliminate the fan squeaking as it coasts down to a stop. Better to stuff a wash cloth in while the fan isn't running. Turn the t-stat up to colder to force a run condition for a minute or two then turn the t-stat down and watch the compressor and listen for those sounds again.

Need to rebalance refrigerator

Hi Susan ! If you look under the fridge at the front you can see the front two feet at either side. Both of these feet are adjustable, a collar on a threaded PVC foot with normally a straight roller at the bottom. You will need to roll the fridge out a little and using some one to help tilt the fridge back a little to get your hand on to the collar. Some are able to be turned with just your fingers with out tilting the fridge but it is easier with the weight off them. If door self closes the fridge is tilting back, tilting forward the door will stay open. Now by loosening or typically threading the collar anti-clockwise the foot height will reduce and the fridge will become more level and the door will close slower. As you get it just right to your personal liking just wiggle the fridge a little and make sure all the feet are touching the ground. The use of a level and patience can have you set it up just right for you.
I hope this helps as myself being a fridgy like my fridge door a certain way, customers like sometimes know how they like it and there is the way the fridge is ideally installed.

Montgomery ward side by side HMG 229637B ... defrost timer does not cycle ... have relaced defrost timer .. STILL DOES NOT cycle ...if i manually cycle coils heat ... defrost etc etc BUT refridgerator does...

turn the allen screws one is under the hindge side of freezer door and one is under fridge hindge side of door turn counter clockwise be carefull turn to far the adjustment screw will come out of the wheel adjustment bracket.also try having someone tilt refrigator back by pushing top of refrigator then turning the two white adjustment screws in same area of allen screw this adjust the front of the refrigator you may want to adjust the front adjustment so the refrigator is slightly tilted to the back this will help close the doors.

My amana bottom freeze refridgerator door in opening a little when the top door is closed. do i need to adjust the screws or is it something with the seal?

raise the front legs so the machine is tilted back a little, this will help the top door close easier, also most likely you have nothing heavy on the door itself, all a fridge does is move air,the evaporator coil gets cold and the evap. fan blows cold air from the freezer into the fridge side and the air keeps circulating, when you shut the top door it's pushing the air down into the freezer and popping the door open, like i said raise the front legs a little and put stuff on the freezer door so it has some wieght to it and it won't pop open.hope this helps salde

Are back feet/rollers adjustable?

normally the rear are just rollers
for your problem use tapered door wedges ( hardware shop) under the appropriate side at the rear of the fridge to make the adjustment

How do I adjust the 'feet/roller' at the rear of the unit in order to ensure the unit is level?

there are two allen head type screws one under the freezer door hindge side one under fridge side hinge insert a large allen wrench long handle type and turn clock wise to adjust the back wheels be carefule if you turn counter clockwise the long screw will come out of the adjustment nut in the wheel bracket. then have some one tilt the fridge back and next to the allen wrench you will see a white disk that is the adjustment eor the eront of the unit turn it clockwise it will spin down as you turn it.

My side by side fridge door does not close by itself when released

It is likely that your fridge is tilted left or right, and possibly forward at the same time. Most refrigerator doors will self-close if the fridge is slightly tilted both back and to the handle. The fridge is raised or lowered by adjusting the front feet or rollers.

The problem you'll encounter with a side-by-side fridge is that if you adjust for the right-hand door to self-close, there's a good chance that the left-hand door will want to stay or fully open; if you don't check it while making the adjustments. It can take a little extra time to make sure the adjustments make the front both perfectly level left to right, AND slightly higher in the front than the back.

Refrigerator does not level tilts to rear extremly unit rolls foward when opening doors

there should be two set screws at the top of the rollers . to adjust if I am correct you turn these screws to the left to raise the front. These screws are above the rollers as I said however, if you use a phone book to hold up the front of the fridge it will take pressure off the rollers making their adjustments easier

Good Luck

well the simple solution is wood shims to level it out. Could just be your floor is not quite level. I use the cheap pine shims that you get at the hardware store.

NOT LEVEL

Lower the front. But the back needs to be slightly lower that the front in order for the door to swing shut atomatically. While your working under the front, check the condenser coil (wire racks, usually 2-3 layers with a 1/2 inch space between them). Use a vaccum cleaner and **** out any dust. This will make the refrig run less and cool better.
