Touch screen not working

Hi, only had my sons Laepster 2 for a week N when you try to use the touchscreen with the pen to choose your name , nothing happens......I would appreciate any ideas her as like I said , only had it a week and bought 3 games to go with it and they dont come cheap???????

    I have changed my daughters Leapster 2 just 2 days after Christmas about a week later is has broken again. Is this a known fault ?

    I have tried to recalibrate using the stylus, but when I pull up the recalibration screen, I am unable to view anything at all on the screen - no cross hairs - no nothing. Depsite adjusting the contrast. Please help! Thank you.

Hpoe this helps, had the same problem with my son's leapster2, took it back got a replacement and the same thing happened within 5 minutes of turning it on!! Finally found this advice on the net.

If your Leapster2 does not respond to the stylus pen, it needs to be calibrated. Calibrating the Leapster2 is easy:
1) Ensure that a cartridge is not inserted
2) Hold down the Hint button while turning the unit on
3) When the LEAPSTER menu screen appears, press the A button
4) Touch each of the crosshairs that appear with the stylus
5) Restart unit

Good luck, seemed to work for ours

We realised that the leapster needed calibrating fine now, and it was very simple to do!

Lol I just took mine back again. I would have thought a major outlet like Toys R Us should know about the calibration and advised me but to be fair to them they did exchange again without any fuss.

Thanks for the advise I will know for next time.

It keeps saying touchscreen calibration utility touch crosshair to calibrate. we'v done everything that we could to fix it. it will not go back to the page with activities.

My son's mobigo screen looks cracked on the inside, not the touchscreen itself. It will turn on but will not load the games.

Does the crack look like it has black ink or lines around it as well? If so, this happened to my son's Mobigo and, unfortunately, the system is now toast. I called the store where we bought it and they told me to call V-Tech because it should still be under warranty. However, V-Tech informed me that it is not under warranty for damage and that they cannot repair their toys at all. There is nothing that can be done with it. They did offer of discount for a new V-tech purchase though.

When you press the screen it dosen't work. Batterys are in a good place i don't know what to do is a brand new toy

You can try calibrating the stylus pen. Hope this works :) Here are step by step instructions straight from the Leapster2 website:

If your Leapster2 does not respond to the stylus pen, it needs to be calibrated. Calibrating the Leapster2 is easy:

1) Ensure that a game cartridge is not inserted in the Leapster2

2) Hold down the Hint (?) button while turning the unit on. Continue to hold the Hint button down until the LEAPSTER2 menu appears. Remember that you need to hold the "Hint" button down the whole time while you are pressing the power button, and releasing it.


3) The LEAPSTER2 menu will show the options Base Info, Cart1 Info, Cart2 Info, Cart3 Info, and Touch Calib. If you do not see this menu after powering on the Leapster2, turn the Leapster2 off and repeat steps 1 & 2 until you see the menu.


4) When the LEAPSTER2 menu screen appears, press the A button on your handheld.

5) Using the stylus pen, touch each of the crosshairs that appear

6) Restart unit

Hello, When I touch the pen on the pad to play it does not work. Do I need another pen?

Does the sound come at all ? if not then check the speaker inside orr the audio amplifier for failure. However if the sound comes on at start up then the screen should work even with the fingers, if not there is a possiblity of non conduction . Try to remove off the battery and reset. Hope this works. When I turn the leapster2 on in comes on fine. When it asks me to type in a name the touch screen pen isn't working. Nothing happens!

we have had this problem with our Leapster2 for a while. Found this solution this morning and it now works great!

  • If you touch your stylus pen to the screen of your Leapster2 and it does not respond, your unit needs to be calibrated. To do this, make sure no game cartridge is in the unit. Turn the unit on while you are holding down the "Hint" or "?" button. Keep holding the button down until the Leapster2 menu appears. You will need to turn off the unit and repeat these steps if you do not see the menu. When the menu comes onto the screen, press the "A" button and use the stylus pen to touch each of the crosshairs as they appear. When you are done, your unit should be properly calibrated.

    Resetting Pin on Blue Hat ATM machine

    Hi abbeybath,

    We have the same atm/bank for our son. Here's the fix:
    1 - push the reset button on the back of the ATM near the battery compartment.
    2 - insert the ATM card and press the BALANCE button to change the user name (need to do this before getting to the pin)
    3 - enter your childs name and push enter when complete. Cancel will delete an incorrect letter.
    4- enter the default pin (1234) - this will bring up the DEPOSIT, WITHDRAWL, BALANCE screen.
    5 - Press ENTER and it will show the current/default pin. Input the new pin number you desire and press ENTER again.

    All set. Hope this helps!!
