Please, i keep experiencing power offs any time i plug-in. it only works in safe-mode or when run on battery. laptop type-toshiba satellite A305-S6837

Hi There,

You can try and resolve this by booting in safe mode and clean up the startup items (this problem could caused by an unwanted program running in the background).

Here's how :

1. Boot to safe mode only.
2. Go to "Run" and type "msconfig"
3. Click on the "startup" tab and hit "disable all"
4. Restart your computer and see if it resolves the problem

If these steps is not of any help, then there is that need to backup all important data from your drive and re install the entire operating system.

I certainly hope this helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Toshiba A305 shuts down randomly. Hard drive replaced twice by different service companies. Still shuts down. Upon startup and after its been on a while. Any ideas?

More than likely it's from heat. The A305 gets hot quick, especially if your model uses the AMD processor. I would suggest you cleaning the machine out with some compressed air and verifying that you are running the latest bios revision for your model.

I've fixed lots of A305 just by doing the above ;)

Give that a shot, if it doesn't work let me know and I'll suggest more things you could try...but I'm pretty confident heat is causing your issues.

How do i reload software. Laptop fails to boot up now, but i have recovery discs

2 ways. 1, place CD 1 or DVD 1 into the DVD/CD drive and reboot the computer. 2, reboot the computer and press F8 before the Windows screen appears. This should give you the option to use System Restore or Software Restore.

Hard Drive Recovery Partition for Toshiba A305-6837

In most cases you need to press F8 at boot like going into safe mode when booting the computer. If the option is not there then it is possible that the option is not setup properly. Note I have seen this from time to time.

Another way to tell is go into my computer and for a 2nd hard drive listed as recovery. If it is there and/or you knew it was there you just can not boot into Windows. Let me know and I can give you the steps to readd the recovery option to the startup.

My laptop Toshiba A305-s6837 will not boot - when I tried to take back to brand new out of box system crash. Now indicates windows /system32 winlaod exe missing or corrupt. Did not make up back...

OK try this, insert the installation disc and proceed to the repair OS screen, and select command prompt. Once in the command prompt;
Run bootrec
You will see a number of options;
/repairmbr
/repairbcd
/osscan
Run bootrec /repairbcd
Answer Y once repairbcd has found the desired installation. You should recieve the message, "All tasks completed successfully"
Run bootrec /osscan
If osscan returns an OS that is not linked, that is a vista OS, you will need to;
Run bootrec /repairmbr
Repairmbr is fully automated. There is no need to explain it here.
