Audio Issues With Sony DCR-TVR900 NTSC

I am having major issues with recording audio with my camera. The video comes out fine- but the audio recorded goes in and out randomly. I will hear some of what was recorded, but most of the time it is silent. It jumps in and out of sound to silence. I am recording on new mini DV tapes. I have tried 12 bit and 16 bit. Set the audio mix levels to ST1 and ST2 and every place in between but still the audio cuts in and out. It just started to have this problem. I hooked a microphone up to the mic jack and still the same problem occurs. Any help would be appreciated!

I have this camera. I had this problem, but it was corrected by using an external microphone connected to the external jack. I am using a Sony S930C external microphone. The microphone can use either its own internal battery or it use the power supplied by the camer'a battery. Also check to see if the record level is set to manual. If so make sure that the volume is turned up. You can also use the manual setting to check to monitor the sound level coming through the microphone because it displays a meter. You might also want to clean the recording heads inside the camera. They might be dirty.

Well, it is not a bad mike connection since you connected another external mike to unit. If it worked before then something bad has happened to your audio electronics causing this anomaly.

If the problem is no audio recorded from the internal microphone, then it has likely failed. See http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/trouble/micfix/index.html for a simple repair procedure you can do yourself.

Sound does not come when recorded on computer through image mixture

Audio must be set to USB audio. If you are using ImageMixer 1.5, go to setting (a spanner sign on the top right). You will find option for changing the audio there.
