Question about HP Photosmart C5180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Pictures are cloudy now.

When I first started using this printer (c5180) the pictures were magnificent. I've only used the correct ink cartridges and have changed them as instructed. Now my pictures are cloudy. There is a noticable difference in quality. I have followed the directions to clean the printhead and still no improvement. What's next?

I tried cleaning the printhead 3 times in a row and it made a huge difference. Don't give up after cleaning it just once if it doesn't make a difference. it wasn't until after the 3rd time that i actually saw a big difference. It's back pretty close to normal now. Hope this helps someone else.

I get an error messege that reads: cartridge on left is not intended for this printer. what should I do?

The HP C5180 does not provide this error message since it uses the HP02 (or HP 02XL) ink cartridges...which there are 6 of them. Are you sure you entered the correct printer model number?

MY C5180 WILL NOT PRINT THE COLOR RED

Hello there, I am the Expert that will be helping you today. My name is damnor01.

Welcome to Fixya.

Have you replaced the colour ink Cartridge?

If you have not then you may be low or out of the colour ink cartridge. You would therefor need to purchase a replacement compatible ink cartridge.

If you have replaced the colour cartridge then you may need to give the ink some time to flow through the system.
Use the software that came with your printer and use the option to clean the ink heads of the colour cartridge.

When asked if you have replaced cartridges say yes.

Tell me how it goes!

Thanking you kindly
damnor01

HP C5180 says, "Ink system has failed. Unable to print. Refer to printer documentation. Error 0xC19A0035. Turn power off and back on again." Turning it off and back on lets us print a few pages, but then...

Forgive me for asking this, but roughly speaking about 80 to 85% of problems involving ink or toner are resolved by the following:
Are you using a manufacturer’s factory new ink cartridge or toner? I
f you are using a refilled (worst possible choice) cartridge , toner or ink, or third party cartridge (2nd. worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using the manufacturer’s new ink cartridges, then please contact their technical support group. Factory new cartridges usually have warranties on them.

My C5180 produces pictures with very poor resolution regardless of what dpi is set.

Try to clean the cartridges manually ,this may help:

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

How do I reset the ink levels?

We have an issue of missing or replace yellow cartridge. Please feel free to contact the HP support for replacement of the printer, if the printer is in warranty status. HP would replace the printer.
