Question about Panasonic PT-43LC14 Television

1 Answer

Flashes orange 2 times every 5 seconds

According to the manual I need to tighten the lamp cover. I have tried this several times and doesn't work. This problem started last Aug of 2006. It would flash orange and I would unplug the TV and wait 5 minutes and plug it back. Turn TV on and it would work for months before having the problem again. When I called Panasonic support they first said it was the lamp, after I told them the lamp is working they told me they didn't know and to call a TV service man. The past month the TV is going off daily and sometimes will not restart until next day. Sometimes it will stay on for hours and then sometimes only minutes. Can someone help me with this problem? thanks Steve Barton

There is a 20 pin cable that goes from the main board to the light engine that can cause this issue. The other possibility is the door switch or the cable that leads to it has failed. If none of those correct it then the light engine itself is the problem. Hopefully one of the earlier mentioned items is the issue as the light engine is costly. The part number for the cable is LSJA0467 and is available here http://www.partstore.com/PartNumberSearchResults.aspx?PartNumber=LSJA0467

The projector turns on but won't project any light through the lens.

If this is a NEC VT series projector, Change the lamp. When if it continues to blink amber and not project and image after installing a new lamp check the lamp cover to see if the micro switch tab on the lamp cover broke off. Some models have a built in lens cover. If the cover is not slid over to open completely the light may not turn on.

Watching tv when the picture went black and now the green on light flashes for 30 times and turns off

A green flashing light for this model of TV indicates that the lamp cover is open on the TV.
  1. Unplug the power cable to the TV.
  2. Remove the 2 retaining screws on the lamp cover with a Phillips type screwdriver.
  3. Remove the lamp door completely from the TV.
  4. Remove the two retaining screws on the lamp case.
  5. Lift up the fixed wire handle of the lamp.
  6. Pull out the handle slowly and remove the lamp case.
  7. Insert the new lamp gently into the correct position. Make sure it is inserted correctly.
  8. Using a manual Phillips screwdriver (Do Not use an electric screwdiver), tighten the screws you removed in
    step 3.
  9. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the cover screws.
  10. Plug in the power cord and turn on the TV. After the initial warmup period (which may take up to several
seconds for full picture brightness), the TV should operate normally.
If any of the following conditions exist, turn off the TV, unplug the power cord, and repeat steps 1–9 to ensure that the lamp unit and lamp unit
door are installed correctly:
  • The lamp indicator flashes green.
  • No picture
  • Dark picture
  • TV will not turn on
If, after repeating steps 1–10, the problem still exists, call Customer Service at 1-800-631-3811.

Ok we're back to the flashing lamp cover LED. The green flashes you are seeing is the TV trying to start up. After it tries for awhile, it will eventually shut down and display an error code, in this case, the lamp cover LED flashing which means either the lamp cover, filter cover or main cabinet sensing switches are not closed, are intermittent or have some kind of wiring issue. A solid lamp cover light (no flashing) would point to the lamp and lamp drive, but the flashing light points to the switches. Give me an email address and I'll send you the training and troubleshooting manual so you can see for yourself. Any ther help needed, please don't hesitate to ask.

Ink tank lamp lights not coming on when ink cartridges installed

Remove tape from the ink tank - MP800R / MP830 / MP530

Check ink tank vent hole The ink tank requires air to flow through it so ink can move from the reservoir to the print heads. It is necessary to adjust air pressure outside and inside the tank so that ink flows properly. If ink does not come out, check to make sure that the protective film has been correctly removed.
  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on and press the Open button. (The paper output tray will open.)

    mp800_openbutton.gif

  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)

    mp500_scanningunit_open.gif

  3. Open the inner cover.

    Caution:
    a. Do not try to manually move or stop the Print Head Holder.
    b. Do not touch any metal parts.

  4. Press on the tab to release the ink tank (1), then remove it from its slot (2).

    Caution:
    a. Do not remove the print head from the machine.
    b. If several ink tanks need replacing, remove and replace each one individually.

  5. Check the ink tank. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (1), it is properly removed.

  6. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (2), remove the remaining tape to the level shown in Figure (1).

  7. Insert the ink tank diagonally into the print head.

  8. Press it in firmly until it locks into place.

    Note:
    Ink Tank Lamp
You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.
    • - On: The printer is ready to print.
    • - Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
    • - Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
    • - Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
  10. Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).

    Note:
    1. When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam your finger.
    2. When starting printing next time, the print head cleaning launches automatically.
