Hotpoint BF41 stuck mid cycle

My hotpoint BF41 started to to leak at bottom of door. We initally thought that it was the door seal, so replaced seal and hinges. Water was still leaking out of door, and we then decided to watch machine with door ajar, and then discovered that leakage was actually due to to rota arm in bottom of machine had split ways and was pouring water our of bottom of door. We then replaced this part, resolved problem with leak, however, when my husband was the hinges on door he received an electric shock off the door and now leakage problem is resolved machine is stuck mid cycle. Possibly due to electric shock causing a short somewhere maybe? Any ideas? Need dishwasher fixed for XMAS!!!!

Hi, I have got very similar problems with my BF41. We inherited the machine when we moved into our new house at the beginning of November and ever since have had nightmares!

To start with it was leaking out of the bottom (which it still does) so we replaced the seal after googling the error. The new seal then prevented the shutting of the door but in the literature it said that in some cases this happens so you need to buy a new lever for the door which we did and still it wouldnt shut!. I re-fitted the existing seal and then within a week the dishwasher has become permanently stuck in the rinse cycle!

We have now been washing up for over aq week and I am at my witts end as to how to fix the problem, if anyone could advise it would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with my machine - ie lots of water coming out front about two thirds of the way through the cycle - engineer (local and very reliable) knew as soon as he came in that I had started bying Powerball 5 dishwasher tablets - they produce too much foam (try opening the door during the cycle and see the amount of foam) and it therefore comes out of the overflow parts on the door. I tried Magnum 5 and got the same problem. Now I stick to either Asda's own basic (not the 5) or I buy the Magnum ones and cut them in half. Has never leaked since!

Loud noise from dishwasher door. then no resistance. what could this be and can it be repaired

It sounds like you may have a broken door spring. You will have to take off the bottom panel and with a flash light you can look to see if one of the springs came off or broke. If the spring is broken you will have to purchase a new spring and replace it.

I have a Hotpoint Super Plus dishwasher 7820. It worked well for a long time. Towards the end of the cycle it leaks a lot of water from the underside of the door, so it seems. I have fitted a new door...

The door seal has to be in a proper position completely around the door (including the bottom area of the door). If not, it will leak. Also, there are two black corner baffles/seals (located in each front corner inside the tub area) that may also be the culprit. Additionally, there may be an issue with the float switch assembly that shuts off the water supply prior to the wash cycle. If the float switch assembly is allowing an extra amount of water in the tub, it will cause a leak.

I have a hotpoint HDA3400G02BB leaking from bottom front. I'm guessing door gasket?

that is a good guess, but you should also check the overflow float inside the machine. if it is stuck down, then it may be overfilling. the gasket is supposed to stop splashing water. it is not an under water seal. if the float moves freely, its gotta be the gasket. good luck

Let the suds die down then pour in about 1/4 cup of vegetable oil. Start the machine and let it run a few minutes then open the door and see if it is still sudsing. This will usually kill the suds. Some times I have to repeat again but not usually. Drain the water out and run through a short cycle with regular detergent and you should be good to go again.

It's Leaking Water!

Most common reason is that the lower spray arm splits on the seem and sprays water under the door, to proove if it is this remove lower spray arm and run through program if no leak fit new arm. Regards Advisor

Dishwasher is stuck on the rinse cycle

make sure the float or metal probes in the unit are clean.they sense water and if anything is on them it will cause a malfunction in the unit.

Dishwasher element and thermostat

Check with multi-meter for power on heating element's tags. If it does get power, you should replace the heating element. In case of no power- you should replace the thermostat. Good luck !
