Cannot see memory card

Does all your usb ports work? Try another usb port. If you have to you can purchase a card reader that reads many different types of cards for under $20.

Laptop will not read some USB Memory Sticks

Is it the older one that doesnt read the thumb drives? If so I actually had the same issue with my laptop and the fix was really easy. First do you have more than 1 usb port on the laptop or multiple usb ports? Have you verified that its all the usb ports on the computer or just one in particular? I found that a build up of dust can immensely affect the way a usb port will work with certain devices. Make sure you dont need to do a quick cleaning. If all is clean then it may be neccesary to go to the website support of each thumbdrive and get drivers for them. It should tell you exactly how to load the drivers to the usb thumb drives.

My magic jack is not being read by my acer notebook

when you plug it in does anything come up? If not then go ahead and try different usb ports and see if its read by any of them. If none of your USB ports read the magic jack and you know the USB ports work cause you can hook other devices to them then that means the magic jack is bad and would need to be replaced.

If none of your usb ports are reading any devices then that means the motherboard is bad at that point.

USB Port speed is not stable

The speed at which data is transferred via USB 2.0 all comes down to what the read/write speed of the device you are sending the data to/from is.

USB 2.0 sends data at 480mbps but you will need a storage device that can read/write at 480mbps to get that speed.
If your device can only read/write at lets say 200mbps than that’s the transfer speed that will be used.

The read/write speed of memory sticks and external hard drives very a lot and this is what will be causing your speed differences.

Hope this helps,

Usb

1.1 is the older usb connection. 2.0 is faster and is found all all new laptops and some older laptops and desktops. 2.0 just basically is a faster usb port, and can read more devices compared to the 1.1. you can still use the 1.1 usb port like a 2.0 port but like I said it wont always read or just will read slower. 2.0 is better. You could also find 2.0 usb HUBs that you can plug in to the 2.0 port and have extra ports depending on the HUB, if you choose not to use the 1.1 or 1.0.
