Try unplugging the machine for a few minutes, and then trying again.
Sometimes the simple act of unplugging a machine with a "buggy" error code solves the problem, most any machine with a computer that does not erase the error code that started the problem after you have applied the "fix".
Try cleaning the nozzles and contacts of the cartridge with a damp cloth. After installing the cartridge, powercycle the printer. Just unplug the power adapter of the printer for about 30 seconds then plug it back in.
Here's how we fixed it. The official solution in the manual is to unplug the machine for 20 minutes. That didn't help. Apparently, we needed to do it for longer. After we left both ends of the power cord (from the wall and the machine) unplugged for about 5 hours, the machine magically worked again -- and no more code 8.
