I am having archos pma400 30 gb which i connect to usb port but this device is not recognised can you please assist me and secondly it can not be started and it show green light only but screen is blank can you help me in solving this problem

I fixed my son's 605 4 GB had Recovery code (104) on it. This might work for other error codes too. These are the steps i followed * Use thecomputerfor this process that you always used for this archos Archos should be plugged in toPc before starting the process. * Download the firware Upgrade 2.1 * Plug the Archos toPc * When the white option screen comes up, just pick the format disk * Wait until all done do not pick any option on archos after format is done Pc should recognize your archos in 5 seconds * Put the firmware in root section of the archos not in any folder. * Safely remove the usb for Archos from your pc first and then unplug thecable. * Do not pick any option on the Archos screen * Just turn it off from the power button by holding it until it turns off * Wait about 5 minutes and plug it back to pc * it will come up with white screen again but this time it will start Update you will see the progress bar moving, wait until it is all done, it will shut off. Turn it back on and your archos will be back to normal
I hard tried the same thing to transfer a 6.7GB file to another computer.I had formated the drive as an NTFS drive. when i turned archos back on, it failed to turn on give me error code. but for some reason it asked me to do a recovery. I remember i had seen some recovery files in my archos device saved (zipped file packages). And when it was doing the recovery i noticed it was reading the zipped files for recovery purpose. After the recovery, i did not see the files anymore in the device. So if i do the same thing again (format as ntfs) i might not be able to recover it back again.
Go to settings and look under system.Then look where it says usb peference then see if it says windows media device if not change it to this and if that doesnt work try the other settings.If that doesnt work go to Archos.com and contact them and see what they can do.
if you are having technical problem with your archos 605 just do this connect your USB with your computer and your archos device will pop up on the screen asking you if you want to charge your device or enaable usb that will automatically appear if your computer doesen't reconise the device then switch it off and on again if doesen't work then i suggest you look it up on the archos manual which is located on your device. if that doent work then i think you may need to update your computer it must have windows Core dual processor if that don't work and your archos device doesent appear then i think you may need to update your computer with a service pack 2 installation cd
It is very possible the drivers conflict. You should try uninstalling everything to do with the one you don't want. Then install the drivers/software for the 700. Also what software are you using and what version? Thanks, Lee
