you must have remove the white mylar sheet from the catridge when
loading it...if yes! you got to find back the white mylar (plastic
sheet) that slot in between the drum and charger roller placed it back (
the position must be accurate) then slot in back the catridge. The white
mylar sheet is to reset the drum life counter
Open the top and back covers. If you see any jammed paper or other item, gently pull it out, then close the covers. If the error message remains, open and close the covers again. If the FAX/MFC cannot reset itself and return to the date and time prompt, it will display MACHINE ERROR XX. Please call Brother Customer Service and tell them the Machine Error number at: In USA: 1-800-284-4329 In Canada: 1-800-853-6660 In Montreal: 1-514-685-6464
Open the cover, leaving everything inside. Press Options, then *00 to reset the fax.
If that doesn't work:
Open the front cover and remove the cartridge and drum. Turn off the fax. On the right-hand side of the cartridge, there is a round hole that is covered with a clear plastic or glass. Cover that hole up with tape, put the cartridge back in the drum, and put them back into the fax, and turn it back on.
It appears that you have a broken back door have a look on the door to see if there is a broken piece of plastic as when you shut the rear door a tab pushes against a push switch letting the machine know that the door is closed. if you cannot see a broken piece then the switch it faulty try this by push a flat screw driver on the switch and check if the message disappears.
open the back cover and check that there is nothing stopping the sensors from connecting correctly, if everything seems to be clear i suggest removing toner&drum then getting a can of compressed air and blowing around the top hinges with it as this is an area that tends to collect dust and excess toner
Hope this helps
