Reinstalling 2002 pro

I recently purchased a new PC with Window Vista. Not leting me to install QB pro 2002. Why ?

The problem seems to be QB not Vista (for once). The original activation code only works for the original activation. QB 2002 is no longer supported and when I called to ask what to do, they said "upgrade".

If anyone has a re installation key that they have use in the past, I reckon a lot of folks would be pleased of it. The alternative is to buy the 2008 (guess they'll try to flog you 2009 soon) for around £250.00 or get another accounting package for far less or take get one from eBay making sure that te seller "guarantees the activation code is valid.

Sorry to tell you that you will need to upgrade. Quickbooks is only compatable with Vista in 2008 and up. Quckbooks is not doing anything to resolve older issues.

Sounds like your re-installation of QB did not update your registry files properly.

I would suggest:
1) make a backup of your data
2) uninstalling QB
3) delete the QB installation folder entirely
4) re-install QB
5) restore your data

If this doesn't work, I can provide "remote desktop support" to try a more comprehensive approach.

Windows can't open quickbooks pro 2002. To open file, windows needs to know what program created it. How do I find the program to open it?

Are you receiving QB Program error or QB Data Error? What does error message say?

If your getting program error, get most recent patch at: http://sharedldfp.intuit.com/pub/quickbooks/2002/

If your getting data error, need more specific info. or try visiting: http://www.blocktax.com/quickbooks-errors.htm

I unfortunately have to use quickbooks as well in my personal life & in my professional life. After an exhaustive search I finally found a solution to my problems which are not exactly the same as yours but sound very similar.

It was all down to .Net Framework. I completely removed it from our systems using this I also uninstalled Q.B. Ran a free registry cleaner and reinstalled everything and it worked first time no problems.

Not sure if this will help too much but hopefully should get you on your way.

Error message Library not registered

I got the message "Line 25: Library not registered" after uninstalling QuickBooks Pro 2009 and trying to run my old version of QB Pro 2006.

(I had installed 2009 version to upgrade my QB2006 Pro version but got into problems with multicurrency support not being supported in the Canadian QB Pro 2009.)

Fix is VERY easy and I think it applies to anyone trying to run an older version of QB Pro after uninstalling a newer version.

Fix is to find the file "reboot.bat" located in the program files associated with the older QB version.
In my case it was found in "C:/Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro" folder.
Just double click on the file to run it. This file tells the system where parts of the QB program are located including the DLL libraries it needs. After running this file you should be able to run your old QB version OK. No rebooting necessary.

Assuming you have the install files for QB 2005, reinstall it with the original parameters and then un-install it. The missing file is stopping the un-install, and assuming that you cannot edit the uninstall parameters, about the only way to actually uninstall is to make sure the 2005 install is complete before you unload it.

That is an "Old QB Software version" installed in to a "Newer Version of Windows" issue.

QB 2002 most likely works best with Win 98 or 2000.

For your best functioning on your PC, I would ONLY do QuickBooks entries when your PC has just been freshly turned on and no other programs have been running first. Also "Pause" or temporarily "Exit" any background running software like Win Defender and/or any Anti-virus programs. Call QuickBooks and ask them how you could go about Up Grading your QB version to a more Windows compatible version without having to purchase EACH version to "UPDATE" your pre-existing database/files so they are not lost or dysfunctional. They once sent me disks to jump 2 versions and they charged me less than 50 bucks but that was a few years back. Good Luck!

Error message when installing QuickBooks 2005 to new 64 bit compu

Hello, I found this on another web site intuit community. I tried this and it works. A couple of people said they had to run this each time they signed on but i have not had to.

Welcome to the community forums. One thing that I notice with your error log is that all the missing files are .dll files. I would suggest running Reboot.bat which re-registers the QuickBooks .dll files.
Do a search on your computer for reboot.bat (there is a seperate one for each version) and run the reboot.bat that corresponds to version of QuickBooks you are having a problem with.

It worked for me and I am so happy because as stated QB not longer supports 2005.
