Question about Kodak EasyShare Z700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Current drain Can anyone tell me the acceptable current consumption for this model? I have one on my bench that seems very battery hungry, more than any other digital camera I've worked on. Yet the batteries are not getting hot.

Re: Current drain

I had that problem so I just brought rechargable batteries. I was fairly pleased with them.

Good Luck

There can be two issues first of all you must check if the battery that was in the camera or the one that was bought has the CURRENT capacity that is marked on the battery. You might need to take a drain current check or use the battery to power externally a device. If the battery fails to power as required then it is possible that a battery with a new date is needed.
secondly If the battery is good then the camera has a high drain within the camera electronics which need to be checked. If can be a drain in flash circuit, a regulator failure or a voltage controller.

I have bought a charger for camera but it wont seem to charge

check the voltage and current rating mah for the battery there is a probability that the battery may be of high current rating and your charger of low so it will definetely not charge the battery of the camera or will take too long to charge it..

Nikon COOLPIX S710 stops working after battery and/or memory card are removed. I have reformed the memory card (no change). Purchased 2X new batteries (no change). One of the original batteries will allow...

A voltage test alone cannot determine if the battery is good unless you can have the current rating of the battery tested. So if the camera comes on after a charge it seems that the battery is not retaining current for the camera to boot on.
It will be good to check the current factor with an external load so as to confirm if this is the fault of the battery. If not there is shorting or high draining of voltage in the electronic circuit of the camera which needs a serious check.

When i take the battery out my current date is erased and I would need to re-enter. Can anyone tell me how to correct?

Most cameras have internal battery like in a -wrist watch- to store the data. after several years this battery power is lost. I fell your problem is there. Go to a technician and get it replaced.

DSC-W12: the batteries last only a few minutes before they're drained. Camera draining batteries very quickly.

If its a Lithium ion battery(similar to a mobile phone battery) then open battery compartment, clean battery contact points and try again after recharging the battery. If the camera uses AA batteries look for the current ratings on the side of the battery, generally digicams need batteries with more than 1200 mAh (I use a 2000 mAh for my Canon SX110 IS digicam). This current rating may vary for different manufacturers.

After taking about 5-10 pictures the shutter speed slows down, then it will not work.

A Generic Answer that is appropriate for most cameras, but may not be perfect for yours, add a comment with make and model details for a better reply.

The most common cause is rechargeable batteries at the end of their working life,
The battery cant supply sufficient current. take a few pictures and there is not enough current to continue, even though the battery voltage indicator suggests a full or part full battery
then with a delay, chemical action within the battery regenerates enough to power some more pics.
I get good results from generic (PureEnergy) rechargeable alkalines from WalMart, up to 900shots in daylight /charge, 4aa 4aaa & charger $32 100 charges guaranteed

Your region may have a different brand.
My apologies if this seems like a commercial

It is the SD memory.  Take that out when you are not using the camera, and it will draw less power.

Problems with Samsung Digimax v 50 battery consumption.

There is not a lot of user information on this camera. I did find some and they all complained about the battery life. If you are connecting the camera to your computer you lose a lot of battery life just downloading photos to the computer. Get a card reader. Some cameras will let you turn off the LCD screen and just use the optical viewfinder. Check your owner's manual and see if you have that option.

Why does my battery gauge seem inaccurate?

In a variable-load high power device such as a digital camera, the battery level indicator gives a prediction of remaining battery life, based on current rate of consumption. Since different operations consume different amounts of power, the battery gauge may appear inaccurate if changing the operations being performed by the camera, which changes the rate of power consumption.
