Are there converter cables for a 722C deskjet printer that can be hooked up to a new computer with Windows 7?

I'm looking for one now, myself. Decided dig-out the HP 722C and try to get it work with Windows7 64-Bit, now that I see there's a driver patch for some of these older DeskJets. I need to get a 36-Pin Centronics Male to USB-A (Male) cable converter. Be careful on the male Centronics plug - - - The one I'm looking for has 36 small square holes in the center. There's another type of Centronics that has 36 contacts spaced closer together without the 36 square holes. I have that cable and it must have come from an old Epson dot-matrix printer I once had.

I'm looking for one now, myself. I decided dig-out the HP 722C and try to get
it work with Windows7 64-Bit, now that I see there's a driver patch for some
of these older DeskJets. I already downloaded and applied the patch (See
message thread in the HP forum).
I'm now shopping for a 36-Pin Centronics Male to USB-A (Male) cable converter.
Be careful on the male Centronics plug - - - The one I'm looking for has 36
small square holes in the center. Do NOT just buy any coverter cable, as some
people report they couldn't get it to work (with Win7 64-Bit). It must state
it works with Win7 64-Bit or customer comments/reviews say it does.

There's another type of Centronics that has 36 contacts spaced closer together
without the 36 square holes. I have that cable and it must have come from an
old Epson dot-matrix printer I once had. It will not fit my HP 722C. I do
have a DB-25 to Centronics (36-Pin) cable I got from RS years ago. Now I
need to get the new cable.

SOURCE: Banner printing on HP DeskJet 722c InkJet Printer

The problem with your printer is probably if you are using Windows XP it will not print banners from there. I downloaded drivers too and found if I went to a printer with Windows 98 and put in my software program the banner will print out. Hope this works for you. I had to find it thru trial and error.

SOURCE: Will HP Deskjet 722c work with Windows 7? There

If you are using a 32 bit version of Windows 7 you can add a driver using the following: go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a printer, Local printer, LPT1: (or which ever parallel port the printer is connected to), select the Deskjet 720c driver. You may need to click on the Windows Update button if the driver does not show up initially in the list.

If you are using a 64 bit version of Windows 7 there is not a solution at this point, the supplied drivers have an issue.

I have an older HP DeskJet 722C printer and an Acer Aspire 5050 3242 laptop. Is it possible to hook up this printer?

I would say, it quite possible. If, the printer is a USB connection then it is only the matter of assuring the drivers for the printer will work properly with the operating system. You may obtain the latest drivers here HP DeskJet 722C printer

If the Printer happens to use the outdated parallel port, I would suggest to use an adapter, you can review the ones currently available online here Parallel to USB printer cable

It is always possible to use old peripherals on newer machines, it is only the matter of researching the internet to rather any available adapters are on the market to maintain older printers.

I hope this is helpful!

HP forum solution here

64 bit Win 7 has been a challenge for many. In some cases you may be able to force the Vista 64 driver to work as well.

Connect printer

XP and Win2000 are the same NT platform and are different from Win98SE and if you have the correct drivers installed for each then a single USB cable is sufficient as long as the printer is pointed to that port/device.
