Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I cannot receive the network on my home docking station, if I hold the leads into the terminals on the station, I pick up the signal. When I release the tension, the signal drops off again, and reception never returns. I loaded the radio, an ST4(A) back into the docking station in my vehicle yesterday and only get an antenna not detected signal, I cannot gain reception. I checked on the roof of my vehicle as it snowed, I wanted to see if the antenna was covered with snow, it was not. I'm becoming very frustrated, I am also a long time customer, I hope someone can tell me what to do, either return the radio and docking stations, or wait for a no charge replacement on all of the above. I will wait for your response. My account # is, 3805168285, the radio has and SID # of 022253922556, the fcc id # is NKRUPAST410, once again a model ST4(A) I am also an artist and work out of my home, which means I normally listen to the network through the day. Thank you, I will wait for your response. Bob Koser

SOURCE: Radio stations have shushing sound

Cheap table top radio is mono. Your Denon is not getting a good signal so you are hearing noise. You need a better antenna (roof type) or the antenna needs to be moved and aimed in another direction. Try moving it while the station is tuned. You can also switch the Denon to mono and it will reduce the noise at the loss of fidelity.

SOURCE: sirius sportster sp-tk1, always displays "acquiring signal"

Sirius does not stand behind their products, There is no out of warranty repair for their radios,  and they do not offer sites for repair. Seems  like this is a definite problem with this model. Their solution is to buy a new radio,(with all the new-docking,boombox etc) accessories. also they charge $75.00 to change to the new radio.I liked my sportster 1 because of the FM modulator. It just had to be centrally located and all the radios in my home picked it up(no docking) the new radios require $50.00 docking stations for each stereo location and radio location, unless you bring a boombox everywhere, and the sound isn't the same.    I feel there should be a class action lawsuit against Sirius for these reasons and I might look into it. What do all you think?

Connecting an external AM antenna solved the problem. The internal antenna (if there is one) is useless.

SOURCE: Charging Light On After Replacing Alternator/Battery1999Windstar

Hi, I can't tell you exactly what is wrong because there is too much involved at this point, what with 2 shops working with it, but I can give you some advise on what else to check. On the alternators and the wiring that supports them a small volt charge is taken off one of the slip rings, where the brushes ride, for the purpose of turning out the light. As I remember, this is a yellow wire that runs back to the dash.

To the alternator, it would be one of the wires that plug into the side of the alternator case.

you may be in an area where am stations don't come in,, am uses straight lines of frequency where FM uses a modulated signal, which travels much farther, I bought a antenna signal booster from radio shack for a few dollars , and was able to get the stations, some pretty static filled though, but the more local ones came in ok, another thing to check is that the unit is plugged into a grounded receptacle ,

It will not hold the signal as long as it used to.

I would try cleaning both the dock and the receiver pin connectors with alcohol, then drying and try that.

You cannot adjust the volume when the stereo cord is plugged into the back of the dock. Instead, plug the stereo cord into the front headphone jack of the dock. You will be able to adjust the volume then.
