Question about Kodak EasyShare Z612 Digital Camera
Z712 IS - Frequently when the camera is power up, a screen mesage appears - "memory card requires formatting". I shut down -pull out the 4gb 'pq1' card, use internal memory until I download pics on the card -re insert and reformat. This has occured at least three times - The camera is approx 4 Mo old.
It seems your card has problem. Try CMD command on computer to repair it.

Before suspecting the camera, I'd simply try another memory card in it. Memory cards can and do fail and often can behave inconsistently before they fail completely.

SOURCE: new memory card will not format
You are probably using a 4 gigabyte memory card and your camera will only support a 2 gigabyte card. Get the right card and it will format properly.

SOURCE: Memory Card
The way to format is just follow this, you just plug you camera to the computer then turn it on, after that, the camera will detected, you open my computer, you can see the removable disk, just right click then format then check quick, then ok
Good luck !!!

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 2 GB) and KODAK SDHC Cards (up to 8 GB).
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.
