My son was having difficulty with his Wii yesterday loading games. It was making an aweful sound when we inserted the games and it said that it was unable to read the discs. I turned the console to the vertical position and it could then run the games again and seemed to be normal. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the problem?

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another
disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either
Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be
repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that
will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives

sounds like slot disc loading mechanism gearing is misaligned.. Slot drives are difficult to fiddle with, I suggest you try to get this repaired under warranty, (don't mention that you dropped it though, just say it stopped working)
