Full red ring, when plugged into usb ports on front of machine

When I plug my Rock Band equippment into the front of my xbox, I get a full red circle, and nothing works.
Has there been any issues with the usb ports on the front of the xbox failing?
I can still use the one usb in the back?
Can anyone help me??

I can only plug one controller or component into the back.

The components for Rock Band are my big concern.

Can I replace the usb ports in the front with a higher quality, I beleive the ones from Microsoft are pretty cheap, and the connections have bent over, causing bad contacts.

You can use the usb on the back of the console but its NOT reccomended

4 red lights on the console means the AV lead is disconected so push it in try again and if it doesnt work use the back USB port

you can buy new adapters but it would probably be best to try it with someone Else's first

can you plug wired controller into the ports and does it work?
if it does then your best off buying new adapters
if it doesn't work Call microsoft it could be your USB drive itself

When I plug in the xbox there is a red ring circling the power button and the message error says E73 system error!!!

E73: I/O Hardware Error - Couldn't calibrate HSIO Bus from edram: this error is likely caused by a problem with the Ethernet port or supporting control devices

try unplugging everything from the console let it sit for a bit and then plug in power and AV cable and see if it will work again also make sure you remove your hard drive before doing this as well with the machine off.

also if you have a usb wifi adaptor plugged in remove it. you may have to plug it into one of the front ones after to try and see if that will work for you as well. Most of the time a usb port on the back will get fried.

if non of this does not work then I would suggest checking the warrenty on the machine and contacting xbox for a RMA

if it is out of warrenty you can take it to any Play N Trade Video game store to have it fixed as well.

hope this helps and good luck.

How to hook up my Xbox to my TV

It sounds like your TV doesn't have the Component A/V (Red, White, Yellow) ports. Unfortunately your TV only currently supports broadcast tv. These are the options:
  1. Try and keep looking for an adapter
  2. Get a new TV
  3. Plug it in another TV (if you have one)
Good Luck!

Hook up all components to rock band

The game should have come with a 4 port USB hub. If not, you can go over to radio shack and get 1 for 2 bucks.

Red Circle

Is the whole ring red or just 3/4 of it. If the whole ring around the start button is red, then you A/V Cable(the one that go to the TV) is not plugged in properly.
If only 3/4 of the ring is red, then yes you are covered under warranty through Microsoft. Here is the Microsoft repair center number 1-800-469-9269
