Ok this is going to sound backwards, but you tried just about everything else. Did you recently switch virus programs? I was just reading a link that one of the other techs gave you from msft. It said that this kind of action can be caused by a virus program, due to the monitoring of the incoming and outgoing checks it needs to perform. Have you tried a different Virus program, or dialing it down a bit. Otherwise it sounds like you picked up one of those variants that are new and persistant. I had one in a brnd new machine last week and it got infected through the virus program, try the free or trial version of AVG, by Grisoft, you can find them on thr grisoft site. Also I had to run Lavasofts Adware remover in safe mode to remove it. I see one of the experts already told you that, but that is what worked for me, and it was a brand new acer laptop right out of the box, good luck, Gym

Restart the computerThis simple step can resolve any number of problems resulting from improperly closed files, memory corruption, and damage to system files.
close other programsYou will need both Outlook Express and Internet Explorer open. Save your work in any other programs and close them. This allows your repair steps to do their job without other programs making demands on your computer at the same time.
Delete the Temporary Internet Files 1.
In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
2.
In the Temporary Internet files panel, click Delete files.
3.
In the pop-up alert window, select the Remove all offline files check box, and then click OK.
If you do not select the check box, the temporary files used by Outlook Express will not be removed.
Outlook keeps sending the same message - 59281_clear_cache_f.gif
Remove all offline files to delete Outlook Express temporary files.
This step often comes as a surprise. Each time you display a message, either in a message window or in the Preview pane, Outlook Express creates a temporary file to help it display the contents of the message. Each of those temporary files is stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder that is used by Internet Explorer. Sometimes one or more files in this folder are damaged, and that can cause Outlook Express to exhibit strange symptoms when displaying messages. All the files in Temporary Internet files truly are temporary, so there is no danger in deleting them. Doing so will not delete the actual messages in Outlook Express.
Compact all folders • In Outlook Express, click Work Offline on the File menu so that no new messages will be arriving.
• In the Folder List, click on Outlook Express so that no e-mail or news folder is open.
• Close the Folder List by clicking the X in the upper right-hand corner of the list panel. Alternatively you can click Layout on the View menu, and then clear the Folder List check box.
• On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Compact All Folders. Do not use your computer until the process is complete, which might take several minutes.
If an error occurs, close Outlook Express, re-open it, and begin the process again from the top. If the same error occurs again, close Outlook Express, restart your computer (or log off and then log on again), open Outlook Express and then begin the whole process again.
59281_compacting_f.gif
Let the compaction process finish before you try to use your computer.
Many bizarre behaviors in Outlook Express are caused by small errors in the file “Folders.dbx.” This file is the master index of the message store folder and damaged entries there can create all sorts of fun, such as the wrong message or folder being displayed. When you compact all folders you are also updating this master index. If you don’t compact all folders from time to time, you are more likely to see distinctly unfunny behavior. For more on preventing and recovering from serious file corruption please see my earlier column on file corruption in Outlook Express.
Reregister Outlook ExpressDamaged or missing entries in the Windows registry can prevent Outlook Express from being recognized as the default e-mail client. That it turn can cause odd behavior when replying to a newsgroup message or clicking an e-mail link on a Web page. A simple procedure causes Outlook Express to rewrite its main registry keys and so corrects such issues.
1.
Click Start, and then click Run.
2.
In the Open box, type msimn /reg, and then click OK.
(Note that you will not see anything happen.)
3.
In Internet Explorer click Options on the Tools menu.
4.
Click the Programs tab and select Outlook Express as the default e-mail client and as the default news client. You can change those later if you wish.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls download, install and run AdAware.Run in Normal and Safe Mode. List down file(s) it would find/quarantinein the C:Windows. After it has scanned/cleaned in Safe Mode, runregedit. Find all references to those files that you listed. Deletethose registry entries. Safe Practice dictates that you backup yourregistry and should be comfortable working with registry modifications.

Of course, the best would be to do a complete clean, fresh install of the Outlook Express/OS.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

It seems something inside OE is broken and it is unable to close threads due to not recognizing when a message is sent. To see the error log's for Outlook express 6 (for WIN-2K), look in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{XXX-XXX-XXX}\Microsoft\Outlook Express. "POP" is your incoming mail server log, "SMTP" is your outgoing mail server log.

When did the problem start?

Was it right after installing a windows update?

Beware of update KB823353, currently it seems to be causing many problems.

Another M.S. update KB896727 seems to be causing the email sending issue, I was able to resolve the problem by opening OE6, go to "local folders". click "File" select "folders" then select "compact folders". When the process is complete, restart the computer and try using OE6 to verify it is working correctly.

If anyone has trouble using this procedure on WIN-XP let me know.

Also, if you perform the actions in that link and still have the same issue, it could be due to the size of one of the folders in your inbox or your sent folder. Microsoft says that you should not allow the folders to contain more than 2000 messages. Doing so can, over time, cause dbx file corruption.

For reference to the 2000 message guideline, see:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/comm...

They do just mention the sent folder should be around 2000 as a max, but I have found through experience that any folder, including sub folders in the inbox should be limited to around that number.

recently this exact issue is solved
    Refer to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=26205...

Have you tried a system restore to a point before this started happening.

To do this go to Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>System Restore

and restore to a point before this started happening and see if that works, If it doesn't then undo the system restore and let me know and I will let you know what to do next.

good luck and don't be afraid to ask me any questions during this

See if there is a message in out outbox. We had one that kept sending as it
was stuck in the outbox. We dragged it into the sent items instead and voila,
it ceased sending it. Never did find out why it got stuck in the outbox
though.

    try these steps..

    1. In Outlook Express click on Tools, Options, Maintenance tab...Store
    Folder.
    2. Place the cursor at the left of the text of the path to the folder.
    3. Drag the cursor to the right until the text scrolls to the end.
    4. Right-click on the text and choose Copy.
    5. In the Start, Run box right-click Paste. Click OK to open the store
    folder.

Using Keyboard Shortcuts for the Open the Store Folder Alternative

An even easier method when opening that page is to use the Tab to
highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C and close OE, then use
    Start/Run
and Ctrl+V. Same caveat about hidden files applies but can be easily
modified in Explorer by using Tools/Folder Options.

Unplug internet connection and clear Outloouk outbox, if this does not fix the problem, then it is probably a virus.

Unplug the internet cable, or stop the internet connection if wireless, so that you can work on Outlook Express offline, without spamming all your friends.

Empty Outlook express outbox, deleting all messages.

Restart the computer, if Outlook restart sending that can be a virus.

I can't delete inbox messages in Outlook express. and it's locked up

If you cannot delete email in Outlook Express and the program crashes frequently the problem might be because of corrupt storage folders - typically, the Inbox and the Deleted Items. As you may know, the email program uses the Inbox to store all incoming email, Sent Items for the messages you have sent and Delete Items for the messages that have been discarded. Now if you cannot delete an email in Outlook Express the cause of your troubles might be faultly or corrupt Inbox or Delete Items folders.
Fixing these two folders is not difficult and for that we need to find out where these folders reside on the hard disk. In the Outlook Express program, go to "Tools" -> "Options" and move to the "Maintenance" tab. You'll find a "Store Folder..." button; click on it. This brings up a small window with the path to the storage folders directory. Use the left mouse button and click to select the entire path. Now right-click and choose the "Copy" option. Close the Outlook Express program.
Open the "Run" program from the "Start" menu and paste the full path (CONTROL-V or right-click -> Paste). The Outlook Express storage folders are hidden files. You may need to force Windows to show them. From the top menu, select "Tools" -> "Folder Options" and then from the "View" tab, check "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Now simply select the Deleted Items.dbx file and send it to the recycle bin. Don't worry; Outlook Express will create a new one when you start it again.
If you still cannot delete the email after manually removing the Deleted Items.dbx file, I suggest you do the same for the inbox storage folder. However, deleting that will also remove all of your store email messages. So first select and drag all the messages in a temporary folder (create on the Desktop); you can then drag them back to the inbox when you open Outlook Express again and it creates the inbox afresh.

In Outlook Express, it continues to send older messages each time you send an e-mail. It also does not include them in the Sent file. What can we do? I just ran a new version of Norton 360 2010. ...

delete the old failed messages out of the outbox.. delete ALL messages from the OUTBOX.. if they have failed previously or are too big they might sit there, then every time you go to send a new one or hit send/recieve to get new ones, it will try to send them again.

good luck

Outlook express is trying to send a message with a lot of photos attached. It is unable to do this. How can I delete this message.

Hi,
If your Email is trying to send as soon as you start Outlook Express, you might try this:
Open Outlook Express and go to the top menu, click TOOLS then under that menu, OPTIONS. Under the GENERAL tab, uncheck the box for "Send and receive messages at startup", then click OK.
Close Outlook Express and start it up again. Hopefully this will allow you to delete the Email. Good luck!

Outlook express 6.0 outbox problems

This is a common problem with outlook express. The files have become too large for outlook express. I recommend blowing out all the emails. Try first empty the deleted items. If it will not delete. You need to find the folder associated with this identity. That would be in C drive then documents and settings then your username then application data (hidden folder) then identities. There will be a folder with a crazy name of numbers and letters. Go into this folder and you will see your inbox folder and outbox, sent box etc. Delete the folders that you dont have important emails in and this will dump that whole box. Make sure outlook express is closed when you do this. When you reopen outlook express it will recreate these folders empty. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

This sounds like a virus. there are no settings that allow messages to double-up. Run an Anti-Virus that will check your E-mail aswell as the rest of your software. Hope this helps.
