Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

1 Answer

No signal Hi again, I just got my laptop back and tried to reconnect to my wireless network. It had great signal strength before now there is none. I did not move or add anything? I did unplug and plug the router back in but the most I could get was low (one bar). Any suggestion? Thanks again for your help. Sandymcc

Re: no signal

If this model has a antenna, check its connecting with the router. Try resetting the router. Also some labtops have a worse signal reception strenght when they are not plugged in, so try plugging it in if you havent already.

Netgear DG824m Disconnecting every few mintes

There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.
1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from walls and if possible locate the wireless router higher up.
2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? ie. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router.
3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arid welders, washing machines etc. If so the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply)
4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

No wireless detect connection

Note all changes to be made from wired computer only . Any computer that is phisically connected to the router.
Open the router setup page by typing in your default gateway address( router address) on the web browser
You can get it by
Start -> run -> cmd -> ipconfig
You will see the router setup page opening up
Check what it says . IF on the top it says Internet Status :: Connected then
1. Under wireless you'll see channell and ssid
2. Change channell to 6 or 11 .That gives you the best wireless signal strength . This is the most probable cause .
If you want you can also change the
3. Check your security key
4. And apply changes
5. Now on your wireless laptop go to Control panel ->Network connections -> wireless network connections -> right click -> deleate preffered networks -> refresh netweork list
6. You will find your network there select and connect.

Works great

If Ip status : says not connected
1. restore factory default
2. reconfigure router
3. reconnect

This shoud help and please let me know .

Signal showing but no connection (zoom 5590 x6)

Hi……there could be a number of reasons why you can’t connect. I’m assuming you have rebooted both laptop and router to see if this helps, so let’s move on to some basic troubleshooting steps to start with:

  1. Can you pick up the internet through a wired (Ethernet) connection between the laptop and the router? If so, this narrows the problem down to your wireless connection.
  2. Can you login to your router again, and check to see if MAC filtering has been enabled. To find this, go to Advanced Setup > MAC filtering. If the status is ‘enabled’, disable it, Save changes, and try to connect wirelessly again
  3. If MAC filtering is off, and you still can’t connect, go to ‘View Wireless Networks’ on your laptop: disconnect from your network, wait 30 seconds, and reconnect. When prompted, re-enter your network key very carefully. Can you connect now?

If you still can’t connect, please come back to Fixya, and let me/us know the operating system on your laptop. Good luck…

Wireless signal low

Get a better wireless router.

Change the location your using your laptop in.

Google your problem with hack as a keyword to read about how people can use woks to increase signal strength but watch out for laws about radiation and frequencies.

Consider getting a booster to relay your signal.

Check for wireless phones or radios, pay TVs etc. that could be affecting your signal.

Laptop won't recognize the network, No installation CD, other solutions?

This sounds like you have either WEP or WPA enable on the network you are trying to connect too. Are you connecting through a wireless network? If not try adding a passphrase using WPA-TKIP and see if that helps.
