Question about GE 23.1 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water - Black-on-Black
Ice maker working fine. Water freezes and can be unfrozen using hairdryer but refreezes.
We have the GE ESS25XGMB BB, and the freezer door actually freezes up (on the inside) with large masses of ice. About once a year, I have to take the door completely off and apart, leave the inside (plastic) panel in the sun to thaw and dry, and then replace all of the insulation upon putting it back together. Lately, the ice maker has been dumping water in the ice bucket, which clumps the ice, and then causes it run out onto the floor. I'm thinking it's time for a new non-GE refrigerator...

This is a problem with my GE side by side also. It only happens occassionally and there doesn't seem to be any fix. I've had GE repair service here more than once. It seems that the insulation in the door is insufficient to keep the water line from freezing up. Small wonder GE is part of this awful financial mess.
