When you turn on the laptop the screen is so dark you can hardly see it, then it disappears and stays black. I can hear the computer on, but can't see screen! Just wanted an idea what I was looking at before getting serviced.
How long have you had your computer? Mine has been doing this. The battery has died out over time, and now I think the adapter is too. It's kind of kinked near where it plugs into the computer (probably from the weight of the chord constantly being pulled down). It just gets a bad connection, a little less power, and goes dim like that. If I readjust the connection and turn off/turn back on the computer, it usually comes on bright again. But I ordered a new battery

When this happened was the laptop overly hot? If the laptop's head got too high it could have shutdown to protect itself. It wouldn't boot until the heat had disparate. Sit you laptop aside for about 30 minutes and see if it will boot then. If it does you might want to check out a cool mat.
Change the LCD screen, it can be solved there is no image on the screen, but the power light stays on Dark display but still readable computer problems, this should help you:http://www.lcdinverters.net/
It sounds like a driver recovery issue, you may have to do a hard reboot. Hold the power button in for atleast 10 seconds or until your laptop shuts down completely, wait 30 seconds then turn it back on. If this fixes the problem you need to upgrade your video driver and/or your Operating System.
The Keybinding to switch monitors is Fn F4. Please try this, and if it still doesn't work, listen closely and see if it keeps rebooting, also go into a dark room with the laptop, and see if the screen switches from black to dark blue and back to black. If this occurs, it's a result of your OS crashing. If this is the situation please contact a local retailer to see if you can get a new version of your OS for free, but you may be charged.
Hope this helps ^^. Please dont forget to rate, Thanks
This is most likely going to be a failed system board component. If it were the screen or video card you would still hear Windows starting up. However, let's try a few simple things that could cause this in order to rule them out. First, take the battery out and start with the supply only. Then remove the memory and try them one at a time in both slots. If it's still not working, then this will be a board component, and this problem can be very hard to track down, so I suggest taking it to a shop for diagnosing.
