Question about Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

Response You asked me what machine I had the problem with. This is a Canon IR6800 that the Dept ID was selected and now I am locked out completely from the machine. If you know how to clear it or reset it I would really appreciate it. Thank you,

Startuo ask for Depart ID and password

You need to turn dept id off but to do this you'll need to clear the system password. You need the service mdode to do this. Press the head key once (the key with a head and star inside) then the 2+8 keys at the same time, then the head key again. This will get you into service mode. Now select 'COPIER' then 'FUNCTION' then 'CLEAR' now look for the option the reads 'PSW-CLR' select it and press OK. Now turn off the machine by the control panel and then the power switch. Now turn the machine back on and you should be ok.

Dept. ID is activated that is why it is asking you to enter it. If you are not needing the function you can ask the local service provider to check the settings of your machine.
