Thank you for your answer concerning new USB devices

In your answer you said that it's a pity i do not have a registry backup.
I have found that my Registry Healer application did save such complete record, but this is old backup from a few months back.
what happens if i restore this old backup? do i lose important current data? do you recommend it?
thank you again, you have been very kind.

You will loose current system information (what program is installed) but not saved data onto the disk.

backup the current registry before applying the old one and reboot the computer after applying the old registry. this is the last resort and it might render your computer unusable (windows will not load). only do this as a step to try before deciding to re-install windows.

the registry is windows itself.

My windows installer registery is somehow missing files

This error is caused by an Installation file that is called .msi or application is file that installs a program and it happen when that particular program is improperly installed. If you suspect such a software than you should remove it and to avoid such problems you should avoid other software running while installing a new software to be on the safe side.
Please take a backup of your Windows registry at first
To backup the registry go to Start>Run box or Search Programs and files> type Regedit. When the registry window opens click File>export and give the name to the file and select and remember the location and enter. This will take the back up of the registry.
Now obtain a good registry cleaning software. I recommend ReCure or registry Mechanic make sure the versions are the latest. One of the best Registry software is Uniblue Registry Booster. It takes registry backup automatically. These software should be able to fix your problem.
It is also recommended that you see the following link, This software can also make a difference to you

Error "0x000000E4" or "0x0000000A " in Windows Vista

Error message when a portable Windows Vista-based computer that has an integrated or external USB camera device resumes from long-term suspend mode: "0x000000E4" or "0x0000000A "

To successfully apply this hotfix, you must create the ForceHCResetOnResume registry entry. To do these, follow these steps: 1. Click Start , click Run , type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK .

Notes :-
• <Four-digit_number> is a placeholder for the USB devices on the system.
• In this step, you must locate the registry subkey that represents the system's USB universal host controllers. The USB universal host controllers typically have the lowest four-digit numbers.

4. In the details pane, type ForceHCResetOnResume, and then press ENTER.

I keep getting error-can't find /cdrive &other stuff. all the time while on internet

First, please have a look at the standard MS troubleshooter in case there's something obvious you've overlooked. Go to windows update and do a scan for hardware updates. Then go to the Device Manager (Start>Right click My Computer>Manage) and uninstall the cd drive, restart your computer, and check to see if the drive is correctly recognized. (It will normally be reinstalled when you boot up.) If not, you'll need to repair the registry, so please create a new system restore point, just in case. (And if you want to be careful, Get a free copy of Erunt and make a full backup of the registry.)
Then please see this short post and this MS article to repair the registry so your system can once again correctly detect the cd drive.
Good luck.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Ccleaner is a very powerful utility and should be used with care, it's always a good idea to back up your registry before carrying out any work on a pc as registry can be restored to the date before work was done if things go bottom up ... for your info, a good registry backup tool is ERUNT ( see google )
But back to your problem...XP has a system restore function, where you can restore your system to a system restore point prior to the damage being done, however I would strongly suggest you backup your registry before using system restore.
System restore can be found under "system tools" in "accessories" ... Hope it helps !
