Try to boot in safe mode. Press F8 constantly till you get a screen with many options. Select Safe Mode. It may take some time to boot. Scan for viruses. If no viruses found insert windows cd and select "upgrade". (NO New Installation).

My X boyfriend made nhiself as adminestrater . He changed my password and im unable to get in.

Hi,

You can usually login as a different user by following these steps:

  • Switch on your PC and press F8 repeatedly. This will take you to a menu screen with the option to boot using safe-mode.
  • Select safe-mode using your arrow keys and press the 'enter' key. It will now boot up as far as your login screen.
  • the login screen should show you 2 icons, the first will be your administrator icon and the second will be for a guest login.
  • Click on the guest login icon to boot into windows
Note that you may not be able to access some of the administrator files depending on the administrator's security settings.
From here you should be able to create a new user profile or alternatively you can re-install your operating system.

Best wishes,
Graemevm

Screen is blank, but the mouse cursor moving

Please let me know if this happens while the system boots or at initial stage of booting.. (Before login Screen appears). If that is the case, then you may have to repair your OS or check for any new hardware added to the system. It wouldnt be a VGA issue as it shows the cursor movin, VGA is working fine. If this is happening after login session, It could be due to explorer.exe being corrupt or some backend process capturing the screen. Try it.. Good luck.

Black Screen on Dell Dimension 3100 on boot up. Running Windows XP Home Edition. This happen before you get to the Windows login screen.

If you have a black screen it means the system cannot boot into your master boot record, you should reinstall the system using a bootable Windows XP CD, and perform a repair,( not the Repair Console).

When youre in the Windows XP Wizard screen, press enter , accept the license agreement, and then it will check for existing windows xp partitions, press R to repair the existing Windows XP installation, and wait til it gets your system restored.

Corrupt boot

More info, please: Which part of the boot process fails ?

POST, BIOS, master boot record, partition boot record, operating system kernel, some device driver, windows login ? ....

please be more specific.

Also we need to know what kind of a system you have, configuration, operating system.

IF you have a boot sector problem, it can often be repaired with the right utilities, but this is a complex and dangerous process which should only be attempted by professionals. You may do more harm than good. Also if your hard drive is physically damaged or logically corrupted, consult the drive's manufacturer for data recovery services. This gets VERY expensive though.
