yes the radiator is full please can someone tell me the ideal temperature at what point should be the guage meter. the local mechanics say iyour car is fine the meter should not cross 100deg ican someone tell me if its fine upto 100deg

Normally the rule is that the needle is on the half of the gauge. Have you enough oil in the motor that help for temp too.

do you mean engine oil if yes then i have recently changed oil with a new filter

Actually it sounds pretty normal to me. In general a clean combusting petrol engine would run @ 93 deg C to a tad lower than 100 deg (97d) to run efficiently and to be able the 02 sensors to work properly. Your engine is a multi pressurized close cooling system can happily endure 110 deg from time to time. But if your Temp suddenly rose near the redline that should be a concern. But if you feel that this is unusual from what it was before. Check your 2 auxiliary fans (motor & relays); if it starting to tighten up and doesn't spin freely, its about time to replace. Check for coolant and pressure leaks (esp the caps); it should always be pressurized to maintain a boiling point to not boil over.

SOURCE: hi i have mercedes c180

You will need to bring the car to a garage that has the equipment to reset the airbag light. It can't be done manually.

Check the fan itself, could be worn brushes hence the motor will not turn. Fan is under the cubby hole

Does the engine cooling fan run continually

No the cooling fan should run continuously.

You may need a mechanic for this.
In most cases the radiator fan is not pulling enough air thru the condenser when you are not moving. Either the fan is not running or there is a blockage.

Mercedes C180 W203 coolant fan on constant

The fan is on because the wire is cut. If the ecu does not detect a signal from the fan switch it will default as on. Replace the wire and fan temperature switch and all will be ok

Hi, I have Mercedes C180, I have changed both Sam units. Now it's battery keep draining out. Once it's starts its run fine. Can some one help me please.

Don't you have some warning lights on your dash? MB cars are fly-by-wire that tend to depend so much on battery electricity when shut off. Use a high amps battery or battery recommended matching your car model. Check on some instruments that can be a parasitic drain to your car like, car alarm, sticking relays on auxiliary fans, radios. Worse you have a short somewhere or a wiring harness issue, but it should be giving you a warning on the dash.

Car is overheating ...already replaced waterpump, flushed radiator, changed thermastat and replaced new water cap. there is no leak, and it over heats sometimes not everytime?

Hi!!
Make sure the small hose going from the reservoir to the radiator and the orifice at the reservoir are not clogged. If OK, check electric cooling fan system, specifically the Coolant Temp. sensor, Fan Relays and Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM).
Electric cooling fan system consists of a fan and electric motor attached to the fan shroud.
  • Engine temperature is monitored by the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  • Fan is controlled by Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM) with inputs from Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
The electric cooling fan is wired to operate only when ignition switch is in ON position and engine temperature exceeds specified temperature, or when A/C is on and vehicle speed is less than 45 MPH. During hard acceleration, the Wide Open Throttle A/C Cut-Off (WAC) relay controls the A/C clutch and cooling fan. A signal is sent to PCM and then to the CCRM, where the module de-energizes the A/C clutch and cooling fan, decreasing engine load during acceleration.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!

I have a 97 s10 pick up and I have replacesd the fan motor, the heater core, the fan clutch, the water pump, the radiator, and now the fan comes on and works for a short time and then when I got back into...

Its quite possible if you have electric cooling fans it could be the thermostat switch that controls at what temp the fans come on.If its a clutch fan its belt driven and there is not allot you can do but replace the fan.Start your car and let it run until it reaches operating temperature. On the electric fans they will go on and off at specified temps.A test you can do with a clutch fan is to turn the truck off.Spin the fan if it spins real free it needs to be replaced,if it feels jerky or doesn't operate consistently smooth then it would be recommend that it be changed. Also if there electric and not working there could also a bad relay which is located in the engine compartment. These relays can be tested but I recommend a service station do that since all relays are different.

Cooling fan don't work even if the temperature raise, what should I check?

First if it is electric fan or Viscous Fan. If the electric, check if fuses are ok, connections fine, and if the motor works. If it is the Viscous Fan, there is not much you can do unless you want it to work permanently. Normally the fan will be moving slowly once the engine starts, than when the inner thermostat gets its temperature it kicks in a fan clutch and than the rotor starts spinning as fast as the engine, it is less effective than electric fans as it will only give you the rpm speed of the engine from 1000rpm to 5000rpm where the electric motors give up to 8000rpm.On the Viscous Fan check if it kicks in if not replace it or get someone who knows what he is doing to permanently lock it so it will turn even when engine is cold. Not recommended in normal climate.

Car overheats occasionally

When you drive, the cars foward movement forces air through the radiator keeping the engine temperature in check. When you are idling at a stop you need a fan to do this. There is a heat sensing unit either on the engine block or the inlet on the radiator that activates the electric fan.Sounds like it may be the electric fan or the control circuit/sensor.Ask a parts clerk at any of the parts outlets to show you a picture of the sensor and the location on the car. You may be able to short out the connector with a paper clip or wire.If the fan comes on the sensor is the problem. If it does't it will be the fan or the wiring.

2000 jeep radiator fan

Hi micro0711, the fan (which I assume is electric) works off of 3 corresponding pieces of equipment: the rad,the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor so if you have a 180 deg thermostat the coolant would circulate through the engine and generate heat once the coolant temp reaches approx 180 deg the thermostat opens the coolant temp sensor signals the fan to engage removing the heat from the radiator cooling surface maintaining a safe operating temp. If you find your temp is rising check to be certain there is power to the fan and also that the thermostsat is operating, hope this helps good luck
