I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra - the front end vibrates when turning. What's causing this?

Front end vibrates when turning. Vibration eventually disappears after driving a few minutes.

Suspension recall :front control arm lower ball joint. NHTSA Recall: 05V225000. Your going to LOVE this one!! Due to manufacturing issues, the surface of the ball joint may be SCRATCHED and they assembled the units which may lead to excessive wear and looseness, resulting in increased steering or ball joint may seperate resulting in loss of steerng control and a crash could occur without warning. OH! WONDERFUL. 7 THOUSAND Vehicles! I have a 2004 toyota tundra, bought new in o4 and was sent a ball joint recall and had them replaced,it was free.Call local dealer.

When was the last time you balanced and rotated tires,it's recommended to do it every 6000 miles,Sam's club does it for 15 or if you bought tires from there then it's free.Make sure lug nuts are tight.

SOURCE: Rattle/Vibration from front of vehicle when idling at stop

Hi and welcome to FixYa. Please try this:
GO out to the car, and lift up on the hood. Does it raise a bit and rattle? If so;
Open the hood, and look at the perimeter of the front radiator support. You will see 2 small rubber thingys, that look like that they are screwed onto the metal that is holding the radiator. Unscrew them a little, and close the hood. Pull up on the hood and see if the rattle goes away. If not, repeat unscrewing the rubber things until the lift disappears.

A FixYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated for my assistance.

Front end vibration

It sounds like your brake rotors need to be replaced, they could be warped from overheating. This could be caused by applying the brakes too much while going downhill.

2004 tundra brakes problems

i expect the brake discs are worn/warped and /or the pads , only way to tell is to strip down the front wheels etc , check also for any movement in the wheel bearing's , top and bottom ball joints , track rod joints as all these could cause a wobble/vibration under braking if are worn etc

Hi,
Have you ever replaced the shocks / struts? Are you sure your tire does'nt have a bump spot or out of round? I usually will swap the tires front to back to see if the vibration or bumping moves, good way to tell if the tire is bad. I've gotten some pretty poor tires before, some do have factory flaws that will cause that. Shocks will cause that also. Sway bar pins / joints that are worn can cause that also.

REAR BREAKS VIBRATE WHEN APPLYING BREAKS.

If it has drum brakes get the drums machined or if it has discs get the discs machined to stop the vibration as with age and heat and water splashes over time the discs and or drums go out of round causing the pads(discs) shoes (drum brakes)to cause a vibration when they are applied,

Serious vibration Tundra 2000

Don't get too happy yet, I work in the industry and have "fixed" this many times. There is a class action lawsuit pending on the brake systems on Tundras from 2000-2007. The undersized rotors and drums overheat and warp. Turn them as many times as you want, the vibration will return as soon as you overheat the brakes. The fix is a retro fit to the "upgraded, oversized" rotors, spindles, drums and backing plates. The cost? $2000.00 front or rear... $4000.00 for both. Toyota will be nice to you IF you are ONLY letting them service YOUR vehicle at the DEALER. THEN it will be as 50% reduction in cost!

Getting a vibration when i accelerate

You will need to check the drive line the yokes and also the rear end. A lot of times what happens is the drive line is bent or not balanced and needs to be balanced at a drive line shop.
