Question about Dimplex DS5603 Heater

My on switch is lit up red all the time

I have Dimplex storage heater, i believe they are an older model. We have them switched on to give a late boost. I heard that the on switch on the wall should only light up at night after 11 when the heat is generating. Mine is glowing all of the time, and we just got a 420euro bill for a one bedroom apartment. I have called ESB who were completly unhelpful. Please help, if the light is on all the time is this eating our electricity?

Hi Skeemo, were you able to sort out your heater? If so what did you have to do?

The red light is on all the time; I too understood that this light was supposed to come on to show that the heater was storing heat at night-time during night-saver rates. I changed the fuse recently after it blew and that seems to be when the problem started.

Hi - I have an old Glen Dimplex CLX (I think is the name) wall heater. The switch for turning on the heater broke 2 days ago. It sounded like a fuse blew. How on earth can I get this fixed?!

Hi,

You say the heater is 'old', so I assume that it's out of its 2 year warranty? Are you referring to the wall-switch or the switch on the heater itself?

The customer service department will be able to give you guidance on finding the problem and resolving it. If you call 0845 600 5111 and have your series number (top left of the unit) and model (CXL) to hand they will be able to help you.

P.S. Please don't try to take the heater apart or remove it from the wall unless you have experience in working on storage heaters, as the unit is VERY heavy!

Dimplex oil heater FR24. 2400W oil heater. shorts fuse box

I would suggest that the element may have absorbed some mloisture whilst being left in storage for a period of time. You may need to take it to a local repairer to see if they can dry out the element.

If there is moisture in the element it is not safe to use, hence it trips your circuit breaker.

Hi,
It may be that the off peak to your house has failed to switch on, possibly due to the off peak time switch in your meter cupboard not working, I suggest you contact your local electricity board and ask them to check your off peak supply

Hi, I don't understand how the early and late boost works on the storage heater. Someone told me I should turn the output switch off when I am at work during the day, then turn the output control up when I...

Output switch is the one that says Cool-Off-Heat. Turn this offwhen you aren't home.
Output control is the thermostat. If you want to heat the room turn up the thermostat to the desired heat after putting the output switch on heat. It will take a few minutes for the heater to get hot. Early boost would be if you want immediate higher blower speed to speed up keep the heated air from being too hot and late boost will hold off the fan until the heater is higher in temp and the air temp discharged will be hotter.

Early / Late boost in dimplex storage heater

The output setting if turned off isn't adjusting the temperature in the room automatically if its off,and by turning the output up is like turning up the heat.By turning the output switch on you can let the heater automatically control the heat.Still you need to monitor the adjustments to your liking and then you know how hot it will be when you come back into that room.
